"Oh, no. It’s not your fault. It’s mine for being so late to educate you. I will properly fix you when we get home," Quinn said, changing his plans for the night.
It was Quinn’s job as the older brother to place Cassius on the right path.
Since words were of much help, Quinn had to resort to a good beating. It was the most successful method he ever used.
"You said people were gathering before the palace and Tyrion’s home, right? I don’t like it," Quinn said, since it took attention off his plans. "Get rid of them. It’ll be my gift to the prince. Find out who sent them and kill them too."
Quinn needed all the attention to stay on what he did. He liked seeing the town guards and men of the court around the town, trying to gather clues.
When the king’s men failed to find all the clues Quinn left behind, they didn’t have any time to be distracted by someone bothering Tyrion.
"I will send out someone in the morning to do it," Cassius replied.
"Someone? You’ll need a group of men. Honestly, you worry me," Quinn said, directing his attention to Cassius. "What is it that troubles you? I am listening."
"Nothing troubles me. I will do as you ask with the men needed, and I won’t fail. I was looking forward to having a drink and to relaxing," Cassius said, looking at the brothel once more.
"There are other brothels around the town, and it won’t be hard to buy yourself a lady to take home. Well, not to our home. We’re soon going to be leaving that home," Quinn announced.
"Already? Then, is it time to live in your father’s home?" Cassius asked.
"It is. I am tired of being underestimated, and I want to see their reactions when they find out. I should throw them one more little bone so they find out before I make the big reveal. In time, we’re going to have a ball in my father’s home," said Quinn.
Quinn was ready to take back the Lancaster name to separate himself from Cassius.
"When are we going to approach our mother’s family-"
"You mean the same people who sold her to my father? Have you ever heard of them searching for her? What can we gain from visiting them? Well, I could crush them. Have them work for me," Quinn considered.
"It might please our mother’s soul to see you do it. They should know that she had two boys in her lifetime and see what has become of us. I doubt they would expect anything wonderful to come from her once they sold her," said Cassius.
"That is true. Mother was a beauty, and that was all anyone thought of her. They thought of using her until she would be nothing. We’ve done well to ensure that something good came from her. We’ll paint this town red as revenge for how she was treated," Quinn said.
Cassius didn’t understand his brother.
How could Quinn want to get revenge for their mother, yet he placed William on a pedestal?
The Monroe family owed William money and ultimately had to hand their daughter over, but it was William who had trapped her.
Now Quinn was punishing every lady in town by bestowing upon them the same fate their mother had, instead of going after their mother’s family and tarnishing William’s name.
"I shouldn’t question it,’ Cassius thought.
As long as Cassius followed what Quinn wanted, then he was alive and lived a life filled with luxury.
It was unfortunate that Cassius owed his life to Quinn. It was thanks to Quinn’s hard work that he was able to eat and have a roof over his head.
Quinn knocked on the carriage to get the coachman’s attention and said, "Take us home."
"’I hear that Harper’s family has been doing well, and she is currently planning a gathering for ladies across the town to attend. Her father was able to make good use of the money he borrowed. Ruin him," Quinn said, wanting something fun to watch.
"You are questioning my orders again," Quinn pointed out.
"I am not. I was thinking that we let him aim a little higher. He wants to do business with some of the wealthy men around the town. He’ll fall harder if he makes promises he cannot keep. Surely, he would run to us, and then, I will ruin him," Cassius shared his plans.
"Hmm. Once in a while, you do have a way of amusing me. Do as you wish, as long as he falls before there is talk about a marriage between the two of you. I want her in the palm of my hands soon. I need another," Quinn said, looking at the ladies walking the road.
"I need a lady from a reputable family who will cause quite the stir with her disappearance. The ladies so far have gotten the attention we sought, but I need more," said Quinn.
Quinn wanted to see the town in more of a panic. To see mothers holding their daughters closely while fathers try to display their power as they protect their families.
"Is there a lady who captures your attention?" Quinn asked, giving Cassius the chance to pick. "You may have your fun once she is in our hands."
"Lady Penelope has a twin," said Cassius.
"Enough with Penelope and what surrounds her. In time, we will take someone from the Collins family, but not right now," Quinn turned down Cassius’s suggestion.
"Then what of the woman who came from the border? It would bring attention back to you since it would affect the truce the kingdom has with the border. Think of how afraid the king would be to hear that he has lost such an esteemed guest,’ said Cassius.
Quinn rubbed the short hairs growing on his chin. "She would be a good pick. If we could pull this off, it would send the town into a panic. Gather your best men and have them watch her for the best moment to take her."
Quinn’s mood turned better.
Not only would it affect the king, but it would also upset Rafael Callahan, and she held close ties to the duke.
Cassius sighed in relief, grateful his plans were heard and accepted.
"Don’t look so relieved just yet. I still have to give you a proper beating as your older brother. I’ll do it as soon as we return home to get it over with. Then, we will have dinner as a family. How does that sound?" Quinn asked, his attention on the women they passed.
"Wonderful, brother. Wonderful," Cassius answered.
