"Minister, please hear me out..."
Zayd Singleton stared at Hugo Combs coldly, "No need for explanations. I appointed you as the deputy head of the inspection team because I expected you to be just and strict, not to abuse your power and act like a tyrant. You’re relieved of your duties, starting now. You are suspended and will be investigated immediately. If your actions are found to be illegal or against the discipline, you will pay the price for your behavior!"
Hugo Combs felt a chill in his heart; his limbs went weak, and he almost collapsed right there.
Hugo Combs wasn’t a fool; he knew he probably caused a disaster.
The focus of today was not the arrogant words he said that Zayd Singleton happened to overhear. It was that as a minister, Zayd Singleton had rushed over here to deal with him personally.
This sudden turn of events shocked the onlookers, as well as Shirley Miller.
Shirley Miller’s heart surged with delight. Was Carson Flores this formidable?
"Minister Zayd, I apologize for the trouble of you coming here personally, this suspension for rectification notice..."
Zayd Singleton reached out and took the notice from Shirley Miller’s hand, "After receiving the report, I had someone re-verify the Miller Group’s audit. There indeed are some minor issues, but they certainly don’t necessitate a shutdown; self-inspection and rectification will suffice."
Shirley Miller breathed a deep sigh of relief, "That’s great news. We will cooperate fully and carry out the rectifications."
What on earth had Carson Flores done?
Wasn’t he fresh out of the military and new to Polgel?

While Shirley Miller was talking with Zayd Singleton, Hugo Combs, as white as a sheet and heart ashen, started walking toward the exit before suddenly halting in his tracks.
Carson Flores was leaning against the wall at the corner, hands casually folded, looking at him with a slightly mocking smile.
Hugo Combs was stunned.

Hugo Combs’s complexion turned from white to red, and he was sure that Carson Flores had witnessed the scene where he was scolded by the director.
This filled Hugo Combs with deep humiliation.
Without thinking, Hugo Combs asked, "Why are you here?"
Carson Flores replied matter-of-factly, "I work here, mate. Didn’t I tell you before? I’m the head of sales."
Hugo Combs came to his senses—Carson Flores had said he worked for a medical device company, and it turned out to be the Miller Group!
But then again, it made sense.
Shirley Miller was Samantha Tate’s cousin. It wasn’t unusual for Samantha to let her boyfriend work at her cousin’s company as a manager, right?
Hugo Combs sneered, "You seem to be enjoying living off a woman quite a bit."
Carson Flores chuckled, "It’s quite enjoyable indeed. However, it doesn’t seem to be going well for Team Leader Hugo, does it? Abuse of power, accepting bribes- not only is your career ruined, you might even have to spend a few years behind bars. That’s pretty tragic."
Hugo Combs snapped back viciously, "Even if I’m down on my luck, you, a mere poor working stiff, aren’t qualified to look down on me. Besides, I have powerful backers. I might not end up unlucky at all, and even if I’m not in the inspection team anymore, I can still thrive elsewhere!"
Carson Flores chuckled, "Brian James?"
Hugo Combs’s expression changed drastically. He had been bought and instructed by Brian James, and this was also the last bit of confidence he had left.
If Brian James was willing to help him, the issue could easily be defused and become a non-issue. But how did Carson Flores know that his backer was Brian James?
Hugo Combs sneered, "So what if he does? You saw how fierce the minister was towards me just now, but with just one phone call from Director Brian, none of this will matter. You, a lowly worker, can’t understand the world of the wealthy. You’re doomed to crawl on the ground for your whole life!"
Carson Flores chuckled, "Hugo Combs, you are really pitiable, still deluding yourself. You probably don’t know that your support, the chairman of Supreme Sky Corporation, Brian James, has kicked the bucket. Oh, I heard there’s a memorial service for him today. If you hurry, you might make it in time to pay your last respects..."
