Carson Flores walked into the ward carrying the packed meals.
Ye Wen was leaning on the hospital bed looking at her phone, while Samantha Tate slept soundly on the caregiver’s bed, having not gotten much sleep last night as she kept company.
Ye Wen called out softly with a slightly red face, her eyes filled with gratitude and a touch of embarrassment.
When she had jumped from the building yesterday, she had seen with her own eyes how Carson Flores rushed forward, ascending like a superhero, stepping on a bicycle to surge upward and caught her in his arms, even cupping her chest in the process.
The memories of that moment were still fresh in her mind.
The moment she jumped, still in midair, she regretted it, but by then it was too late to turn back. All she could do was watch as the dark earth rushed toward her, waiting in despair for death.
Carson Flores was like a miracle in that despair, like a shooting star streaking across the sky. In that instant, he filled Ye Wen’s heart with hope.
Overwhelmed by the impact, she passed out, but before losing consciousness, she felt no fear at all.
When she woke, she found that she had only broken her arm, and there were no other serious injuries. Along with relief and fear, her heart was filled with unusual emotions towards Carson Flores.
Upstairs was Uriah Reid, her boyfriend who had pushed her into this predicament, and whom she had dated for four years since college.
Downstairs was Carson Flores, who risked his life to save her, someone she had only met once.
Carson Flores walked over with a smile, put down the things he had brought on the table beside him, and asked in a low voice, "How do you feel?"
Ye Wen answered with gratitude, "I just broke my left arm, nothing serious. Brother Carson, I don’t know how to thank you. If it weren’t for you, I would probably be in the morgue or at a funeral home..."
Carson Flores replied with a smile, "You’re not an outsider, no need to be polite... How long has she been asleep?"
Before Ye Wen could answer, perhaps hearing the conversation, Samantha Tate opened her eyes drowsily. Her face brightened, and she sat up in bed, "Brother, you’re here!"
Carson Flores smiled and said, "Now that you’re awake, let’s eat."
Samantha Tate rolled out of bed and then covered her face with a hint of embarrassment, "I must look terrible right now..."
Carson Flores laughed and said, "Beautiful, stop pretending it’s otherwise and hurry up to wash your face and eat."
Samantha Tate was amused by Carson’s words. She took her bag to the restroom to freshen up and touched up her makeup before coming out.
She and Carson Flores hadn’t even crossed the final threshold of their relationship, and she was very conscious of her image. What if she scared him away?
Carson Flores had already set up the small table and arranged the food.
Samantha Tate sat beside Carson Flores, picked up her bowl, and asked, "Don’t you need to go to work?"
Carson Flores replied with a smile, "I’m just an idler, it doesn’t make a difference whether I’m there or not."
Samantha Tate snorted, "Not at all, brother. You’re just being lazy. If you really put your mind to it, whatever you do, you’d be the best!"
Ye Wen, observing the playful banter between the two, felt a pang of envy while also feeling happy for Samantha Tate. She found herself a boyfriend who was very MANLY, exuding a strong sense of security.
"How long do you need to stay in the hospital? What did the doctor say?"
Samantha Tate replied, "It’s not serious. I’ll have another basic check-up this afternoon, and then I can go home to recuperate. I just need to come back regularly for dressing changes."
Carson Flores smiled and said, "That’s great news."
After a pause, Carson Flores asked, "What do you plan to do about Uriah Reid?"
Ye Wen gritted her teeth, "Break up. I’ll stay in a hotel for now and find a new place to live on my own later."
Samantha Tate guaranteed confidently, "I’ll help you find a place. Ruby Gross’s family is in the business of dealing with second-hand properties and rentals. Finding a good place will be a breeze. You can rent somewhere near my house, and we can hang out for meals or go shopping whenever."
Ye Wen nodded, "Thanks, Samantha."
Samantha Tate smiled and said, "It’s just a phone call away, no trouble at all. But are you just going to let Uriah Reid get away with making you jump off a building?"
Ye Wen replied with a wry smile, "I’d love to beat him up to vent my anger, but Uriah Reid comes from a well-off family, and there’s also Ronin Woolery of the Woolery Family, both untouchable. I’ll just keep my distance; that’s enough."
Samantha Tate fell silent for a moment. Uriah Reid was one thing, but the Woolery Family was a tough nut to crack, and she knew it all too well.
Hadn’t Ronin Woolery made sinister threats just last night, demanding she plead with him on her knees?

Carson Flores, seeing both women fall silent, understood what was on their minds and smiled, "You don’t have to worry about the Woolery Family. The trouble with them has been taken care of, and Ronin Woolery won’t dare to bother you again. Ye Wen, you don’t need to be afraid of anyone now. It depends on what you want, whether to break up and stay out of sight for peace of mind, or to seek revenge and vent your anger. Both are possible."
Samantha Tate’s eyes widened in shock. The trouble with the Woolery Family was resolved overnight?
It reminded her of the night Brian James had sent four men to cause trouble, which was also swiftly dealt with by the next day. Yet, the Woolery Family, being a powerful Cultivator Family, was no Brian James!
