As Aziel Burgess spoke, the joyful atmosphere in the air suddenly froze.
Various people snapped back from their happiness, realizing that Aziel Burgess had indeed not said the illness was incurable. He mentioned that the Guanyin Technique and the Resuscitation Technique could cure it, but that his own Fire Needling Technique was inferior to those two, so it could only restore someone to ten to twenty percent of a normal person’s state.
The illness could be treated, but he was incapable of doing it!
What Carson Flores said about being able to treat it probably meant the same thing.
Just as Kylie Martinez was huffily about to complain that Carson Flores had let her have a false moment of happiness, Carson Flores simply smiled and nodded, "I can."
As soon as Carson Flores replied, Aziel Burgess scoffed, "Since you can’t cure it, then don’t say you can, giving patients false hope, uh..."
Aziel Burgess suddenly stopped speaking. His eyes widened as he stared intensely at Carson Flores, "What did you say?"
Carson Flores smiled, "Didn’t you just ask me if I could? I said I can."
Kylie Martinez, Kylan Martinez, and Remy Johnston were all stunned, and then ecstasy spread across their faces.
Having dealt with Carson Flores before, they knew he was skilled and not the type to brag. If he said he could, then he truly could.
It really could be cured!
Aziel Burgess, however, sneered, "You know the Guanyin Technique, or the Resuscitation Technique?"
Carson Flores answered, "The Resuscitation Technique."
Aziel Burgess laughed heartily, "You know the Resuscitation Technique, haha, young man, who is your master that you dare claim you know the Resuscitation Technique?"
Carson Flores smiled, "Andrew."
Aziel Burgess laughed even louder, "Andrew, I know him, very strong, a Grandmaster level, and his medical skills aren’t bad either. But as far as I know, Andrew is best at the Six Meridian Technique, definitely not the Resuscitation Technique. He doesn’t know the Resuscitation Technique at all. So, I want to ask you, how did you come to know the Resuscitation Technique?"
Carson Flores remained composed, "It’s true that my master specializes in the Six Meridian Technique and indeed doesn’t know the Resuscitation Technique, but does that mean I can’t learn the Resuscitation Technique?"
Aziel Burgess was taken aback, "Then who taught you the Resuscitation Technique?"
Carson Flores smiled, "The manual for the Resuscitation Technique was given to me by my master. He taught me the Six Meridian Technique and some other techniques, and I learned it myself from the manual."
Aziel Burgess paused for two seconds, then said loudly, "You’re lying! How is that possible! With so many medical prodigies in the Born Sect, and personal instruction from the Sect Master himself, none of them could learn the complete Resuscitation Technique, at most mastering sixty to seventy percent of it. Practicing medicine outside, they don’t dare to claim they know the Resuscitation Technique, afraid to tarnish the reputation of the Born Sect and the Resuscitation Technique. How could you possibly learn it through self-study?"
"Right, you must have learned just bits and pieces, some superficial parts, and then you consider yourself to have learned it, correct?"
Carson Flores looked at Aziel Burgess, his voice dropping a few degrees colder, "You haven’t even seen me perform it, yet you spout nonsense. Isn’t that a bit too presumptuous? The Bai Liu Gate has been in decline for five hundred years; it seems that it has much to do with your egotistical attitude."
Carson Flores originally had a fair amount of respect for Aziel Burgess due to his age and shared medical background, but Burgess’s actions ultimately triggered Carson Flores’s antipathy, leaving his words no longer courteous.
Aziel Burgess immediately bristled, "Fine, go ahead and treat him, I want to see if you really know the Resuscitation Technique!"
Carson Flores sneered, "What does it matter if I can or can’t?"
Aziel Burgess said coldly, "It’s impossible for you to know! If you know the complete Resuscitation Technique and can heal Kylan Martinez’s disease, I’ll bow to you and acknowledge you as my master! But if you’re bluffing, or you know only a little, unable to heal Kylan Martinez, then you bow to me and admit your mistake."
Carson Flores smiled coldly, "Even if you recognized me as your master, I wouldn’t teach you the Resuscitation Technique."
Aziel Burgess’s face reddened, "Who said I wanted your teaching? I meant that when we meet, I would treat you with the courtesy due to a master. Stop with the lip service, come on, get to work!"
Carson Flores smiled, "Sure, but you’d better watch closely when I treat."
Kylan Martinez and the other two had not expected Carson Flores and Aziel Burgess to get into a dispute, let alone to set such a bet. But no matter what, they were inwardly overjoyed.
Both Kylan Martinez and Kylie Martinez had seen Carson Flores race cars with such skill that he had not even given it his all. Now, Carson Flores had accepted such a bet, clearly having absolute confidence!
Kylie Martinez excitedly said, "Carson Flores, how will you treat it? Please cure my brother quickly."
Carson Flores smiled slightly, "No rush, let’s first discuss the matter of my reward."
Kylie Martinez frowned, "If you cure my brother, it’s a very important matter, a lifelong event. We wouldn’t shortchange you."
Carson Flores laughed, "Let’s get things clear first, to avoid confusion later. Had I not intended to collaborate with the Martinez Family, why would I have approached you myself? You really thought I was after some consultation fee?"
Kylie Martinez glared at Carson Flores, puffing up in anger, about to speak when Kylan Martinez held her back, "Earning a consultation fee for treating an illness is only fair. It’s good that you brought it up, so I won’t owe you a favor without knowing how to repay it—after all, you’re someone who doesn’t lack money nor places importance on it."
Carson Flores smiled, "That’s very forthright. I can help you recover to at least eighty percent of a normal person’s condition, perhaps even fully recover. In exchange, you’ll need to do three things for me..."
