Once they reached the top, Carson Flores casually picked some broad leaves and laid them on the grass, saying with a smile, “The view is nice, have a seat.”
Samantha Tate sat down on the broad leaves, her legs together and slanted, her long, fair legs drawing attention.
“Thank you, you’re quite considerate.”
Carson Flores smiled, “Discovered another one of my strengths?
But don’t fall for me because of it.”
Samantha Tate snorted, “In your dreams!”
After a pause, Samantha Tate curiously asked, “By the way, have you met your fiancée yet, the one from the arranged engagement?”
Carson Flores nodded, “I have.”
Samantha Tate immediately perked up, “How is she?
Carson Flores shook his head, “No, quite the opposite, she’s beautiful.”
Samantha Tate’s eyes widened in disbelief, “For real or are you just saying that?
You don’t need to be embarrassed and lie to save face, I won’t laugh at you.”
Carson Flores laughed, “I’m not lying to you, she’s really beautiful, and she actually resembles you.”
Samantha Tate asked, curious, “Like me?
Beautiful and comes from a good family?”
Carson Flores was actually referring to her appearance, but since Samantha Tate understood it that way and it didn’t seem too far off, he nodded, “Right.”
Samantha Tate’s face lit up with gossip-fueled interest, “So your fiancée isn’t repulsed by you?”
Carson Flores responded frankly, “Out of respect for her grandfather, she didn’t say much, but privately she told me that she’s not interested in me.”

Carson Flores didn’t feel offended and nodded, “Yeah, I understand.”
Samantha Tate stared into Carson Flores’ eyes as if trying to find signs of disappointment, but she found none—just serenity and peace.
“So what’s your situation with her now?”
Carson Flores casually plucked a wild grass, put it in his mouth, and leaned back on his hands, looking into the distance, “In front of her grandfather, we pretend to be a couple; in private, we leave each other alone.
Anyway, we’ve both agreed to act for three months, and after that, we go our separate ways.”
Samantha Tate snorted with laughter, “Pretend to be a couple?”
Carson Flores understood why Samantha Tate was amused and gave her a look, “Now you know why I didn’t want to pretend to be your boyfriend?”

At home, you have to pretend to be a husband, and outside you have to pretend to be my boyfriend.
