"Carson Flores, Samantha, come and sit!"
Leonard Reid warmly invited Carson and Samantha to sit down and then signaled the waiter to start serving the dishes.
There were no other guests in the private room; it was just the three of them.
Carson raised his glass in celebration, "Old Leonard, congratulations on getting what you wished for!"
Leonard quickly picked up his glass and clinked it with Carson’s, "It’s all thanks to your help that the Martinez Family eased up and you even covered for me, allowing me to successfully get the land. I don’t know how to thank you enough."
Carson laughed, "Previously, when Oscar Miller came to you with the project exchange to make things difficult for me, you gave up profits and firmly stood by my side. I haven’t forgotten that favor, Old Leonard, so please don’t be so formal with me."
Leonard spoke honestly, "At that time, I was actually conflicted, but Carson, you saved my grandson, and that’s not something money can address. I didn’t think too much about it, and just wanted to repay the favor. But to be honest, I didn’t expect the Miller Family to fall so quickly. When I heard the news, it felt so unreal!"
He laughed, "Back then, I couldn’t help but think, if I had accepted Oscar’s conditions for the land deal and stood against you, would I be like the Miller Family now, left with nothing."
"That couldn’t happen."
Carson laughed, "The fall of the Miller Family had many reasons. To put it simply, it was a case of ’either them or me.’ If I didn’t take them down, they would’ve taken me down. I sure didn’t want to die, so they were the ones who had to go. You and I have no grudges; back then, I saved your grandson, and you paid me ten million as a reward. As for the ownership of the project, it’s yours, and you are free to give it to whomever you want; it wouldn’t be right to hold a grudge over that."
Leonard laughed, "Powerful Cultivators are not all as reasonable as you. For them, might makes right. Isn’t it because the Divine Cloudy Sect was unreasonable and bullied others that you had to fight them in the southwest conference?"
As the wine flowed, Leonard asked, "I inquired at the factory and heard you resigned. Do you have any new plans?"
Carson nodded, "I need to make a trip to Xi Jing for some business."
Leonard said with surprise, "You’re going to Xi Jing?"
Carson laughed, "Yeah, why that expression? Is there something going on?"
Leonard hesitated, then said, "I previously had my struggles in Xi Jing and did some wrong things, but an old man helped me a lot. Without him, there wouldn’t be a today for me. A few days ago, he suddenly fell seriously ill, and the experts and professors are at their wits’ end. I’ve been thinking about whether you could help check on his illness."
"He’s bedridden now and can’t withstand travel, so if he’s to be treated, someone has to go to Xi Jing. But I felt bad asking you to go all the way to Xi Jing just for this, and I’ve been hesitant. When I heard you were going to Xi Jing, I was very surprised."
Carson laughed, "Well, it so happens I’m headed to Xi Jing, so it’s on the way."
Leonard was thrilled, quickly raising his glass, "Then I really can’t thank you enough!"
And so it was settled.
Carson dropped Samantha off at the hotel and, after agreeing on a departure time for the next day, he left.
Samantha had clearly stated she wanted to wait for Shirley Miller to return, and with that Carson’s heart was no longer as hesitant as before.
Setting aside the necessary emotional progress, physical needs were not an urgent reason, after all, he still had Camille Rhodes, the little enchantress, by his side.
Carson went to Camille’s residence.
"I’m heading to Xi Jing tomorrow."
Camille was taken aback, lifting her head, "For how long?"
Carson shook his head, "I don’t know."
Camille’s eyes widened a fraction, "Is it a one-way trip?"
Carson laughed, "Not necessarily. Mary’s businesses are all in Polgel and Seashore. As long as I have a relationship with her, I’ll definitely have to return to Seashore."
Camille pursed her lips, "Why do I feel like you’re saying goodbye to me?"
Carson chuckled, "No way, you once told me I’m a wanderer, that I won’t settle down, right? I’m genuinely going to take care of business. Besides, even if I don’t come back, you could always come over; it’s not that far from Seashore to Xi Jing."
After hearing Carson say this, Camille felt somewhat relieved. During the time she spent with him, she felt very happy, fortunate, and secure.
A man like Carson was truly treasured.
"What about little Samantha?"
Carson answered, "She’s coming to Xi Jing with me."
Camille’ eyes suddenly widened, her expression envious, "Nice, by the way, have you finally won her over?"
Carson laughed, "She wants to wait for Mary to come back and have a proper talk, so I guess it will stay for now."
