The sound of water arose.
Carson Flores didn’t open his eyes; he had grown accustomed to the sound of the little creature from across the way diving into the water to catch its prey every day.
During his rest times, Carson had measured and found this deep pool to be much deeper than he had imagined. Presumably, there were plenty of fish in it. He had seen that little creature emerge from the water with a fish thirty or forty centimeters long in its mouth before quickly disappearing into the overgrown grass.
Lilly Compton had described the little one as resembling an otter, but after Carson saw it, he thought it looked more like a mink, although there wasn’t much difference in appearance between the two.
The sound of splashing continued intermittently. Carson opened his eyes and picked up a flashlight, shining it towards the water’s surface.
Although the little creature’s hunting normally caused water sounds, they were usually just a splash or two. Yet today, the noises were quite intense, as if the little one was struggling with its prey in the water.
The water churned, and the little creature’s figure kept appearing on the surface, diving continuously.
After a long while, the water became calm again, and the little one swam up to the surface, moving significantly slower than usual. Carson shone his flashlight in its direction and discovered the little creature was covered in blood.
Carson was stunned. What ferocious fish could there be at the bottom of this pool?
The little creature reached the shore but appeared to have no energy left and lay on the ground, motionless.
It seemed to be seriously hurt!
A thought struck Carson, and, reaching into his backpack, he pulled out the Life Essence Pearl.
Shirley Miller had told him that one of the main effects of the Life Essence Pearl was to heal with Spiritual Energy. Here, where Spiritual Energy was plentiful, he could perhaps try it out and explore whether the Life Essence Pearl had other functions as well.
Carson stood up and walked towards the little creature.
As he approached, the previously motionless creature suddenly lifted its head, its eyes filled with wariness as it watched Carson come closer, its body shifting as if it wanted to flee.
Carson stopped, and the little one stopped as well, just staring at him.
It must have been badly hurt; otherwise, the little one would have fled into its cave as soon as it heard footsteps. But looking at it now, Carson knew it would definitely try to escape if he continued forward.
Carson thought for a moment, then took out the Life Essence Pearl and gently infused it with Spiritual Energy.
A strong vitality swiftly spilled from the Life Essence Pearl, spreading to the surrounding area. Perhaps because of the abundant Spiritual Energy here, the aura from the Life Essence Pearl was many times more intense than when he had experimented with it in the hotel.
The green light enveloped the little creature. It raised its head, feeling the energy, and its eyes suddenly showed surprise. The wariness in its gaze lessened considerably.
Carson slowly moved closer. Although the creature’s eyes showed a hint of wariness again, it seemed reluctant to leave the healing aura, or perhaps it sensed that Carson had no ill intentions. After hesitating for a while, it ultimately stayed.
Carson managed to get right next to the little creature, which showed a look of relief in its eyes and instinctively wanted to get even closer to the Life Essence Pearl.
Carson shone his flashlight on it. This little one indeed seemed to be a mink, but he couldn’t tell what kind. It had many injuries, all bleeding. The most severe one was at the back of its neck, a large area where the flesh was raw and mangled.
Carson moved the Life Essence Pearl close to the injured area.
The dense Spiritual Energy transformed into a rich life force and instantly surged into the creature’s wound. The bleeding visibly stopped, then the mangled tissue began to close up. Not only at the neck, but other wounds on its body also started to heal and then scab over.
Carson was amazed. It was miraculous.
In just a few minutes, the wounds had completely healed!
This Life Essence Pearl was truly a divine artifact!
No wonder it was called Cave Heaven’s Treasure by Heavenly Mountain!
After the wound fully healed, Carson took back the Life Essence Pearl. The little creature rolled over, stood up, shook itself, turned its head to lick its wounds, and its eyes sparkled with joy. It then turned to look at Carson again, its eyes filled with gratitude and affection.
This little one was quite intelligent.
Normally, a mink’s intelligence is about that of a two-year-old child, but from this one’s gaze, Carson felt that its intelligence might be much higher.
The little creature came closer, rubbed its head against Carson’s leg, then turned and darted into the underbrush towards its cave.
Carson smiled and walked back, placing the Life Essence Pearl into his Space Ring.
Lilly Compton watched this scene from afar, her eyes filled with awe. Her admiration for Carson grew even stronger.
Such are the ways of a sage!
Carson casually explained, "It’s just a little something my wife gave me that helps to heal wounds. She’s now a Cultivator in the Unknown Land."
Lilly Compton was as shocked as she was enlightened. Carson’s wife was already a Cultivator, which explained the miraculous healing methods!
Lilly felt an inexplicable sense of inadequacy.
Carson was so talented; no wonder he was out of reach for ordinary women.
If his wife was already a Cultivator, then Carson would surely become one sooner or later.
She too... must work hard!
