Carson Flores turned his head and saw a familiar face.
Katherine wasn’t alone; she was accompanied by a man in his early thirties, who had an arrogant demeanor and a cold gaze fixed on Carson, giving off a sense of disdain from above.
Carson turned his head and asked, "The Green Scaled Shield, you want it?"
Katherine sneered, "Yes, I happen to need a defensive Magic Artifact, so I’m taking it. Got a problem with that?"
Carson smiled and turned to the shopkeeper, "Someone’s buying, please go ahead and process this transaction first."
Since Carson hadn’t made a stance and Katherine said she wanted to buy, the shopkeeper was naturally happy.
Who cares who buys as long as there’s money on the table?
Katherine’s voice was cold, "The Green Scaled Shield, I’ll take it, but there’s no rush, I want to look around some more."
Carson chuckled and ignored her, turning his attention to a piece of Luo Yan silk, "You’ve introduced this Luo Yan silk earlier, although it’s a Lower Grade Magical Treasure, it still seems decent. How many Spirit Stones?"
The shopkeeper answered with a beaming smile, "Fifty-thousand Spirit Stones."
Carson said with a smile, "It’s flexible, can be used for offense or defense, quite a nice Magical Treasure, I think it’s not bad..."
Before Carson could finish, Katherine interjected coldly, "This Luo Yan silk, I’ll take it."
Carson turned around with a look of surprise, "You’re taking it again? Are you serious or just faking it?"
Katherine haughtily raised her head, "Of course, I’m serious. What, you don’t have that many Spirit Stones and you still come to Myriad Treasures Emporium? Oh, I almost forgot, you’re the newbie from the outside. You must have made some gains this time in the Secret Realm, right? I saw you selling Spiritual Medicine earlier. Trying to buy some combat Magical Treasures for protection?"
Carson posed a confused look, "Everything I’m interested in, you want. Aren’t you being a bit excessive?"
Katherine sneered, "You didn’t say you were buying it. What’s wrong with me buying it? We’re all about following rules here. I’m paying with real Spirit Stones, not fakes. What could be the problem?"
Carson laughed it off, clearly unconcerned, "Then there’s indeed no problem."
Carson turned on purpose and pointed to an expensive Magical Treasure, the Cloud Wind Shuttles, "This Cloud Wind Shuttles is awesome, much safer than Sword Flight, and it comes with a built-in Spiritual Aura Protective Shield, so you don’t have to worry about ruining your hairstyle. I quite like it, how many Spirit Stones?"
The shopkeeper replied with a smile, "Two hundred thousand Spirit Stones, and the price is firm."
Carson said with a smile, "It’s quite nice..."
Pausing for a moment, Carson turned to Katherine, "Do you ? Want to buy it?"
The shopkeeper turned to Katherine with a smile, quietly waiting with encouragement and anticipation in his eyes.
Katherine was embarrassed.
She had originally come to cause trouble for Carson, and witnessing him ready to buy combat Magical Treasures, she instinctively wanted to interfere, since the more Magical Treasures Carson had, the harder he would be to deal with, so she preemptively butted in to secure them first.
Katherine’s family background wasn’t lacking, and she had plenty of Spirit Stones, but to cough up two hundred thousand Spirit Stones in one go was beyond her means.
Katherine sneered, "I’m not buying it. You like it, don’t you? Why don’t you buy it? I refuse to believe you can come up with two hundred thousand Spirit Stones!"
Carson chuckled, unfazed, "I can’t afford it, I’m just asking. The shopkeeper didn’t say we couldn’t just look and learn, did he?"
The shopkeeper remained smiley, "Of course, no problem at all, welcome to look and learn."
Katherine mocked, "How many Spirit Stones can you have in your pocket to dare look at these Magical Treasures? Can you afford them?"
Carson, unruffled, replied, "Just looking, who knows, maybe I’ll have the money later."
Carson casually picked up another Superior Grade Magical Instrument, inquired about it, then turned to ask Katherine if she wanted it. Katherine naturally realized Carson’s intention; as soon as she expressed interest, he would probably go through the entire store’s inventory of Magic Artifacts and Magical Treasures, then proceed to trap her with each one.
Although the prices of these Magic Artifacts and Magical Treasures were relatively reasonable and not the kind to rip off customers, nobody’s Spirit Stones came with the wind, who could endure such spending?
Besides, even if one had the money, after being toyed with by Carson , what would be the point of buying anything? One would feel no sense of achievement, only a sense that they were being played.
Carson picked up several Magic Artifacts and Magical Treasures in succession, asked about the prices, and then turned to ask Katherine if she wanted them.
Initially, Katherine could maintain her composure, but each time Carson asked, it was like he was mocking her once more, as if saying, "You’ve got so many Spirit Stones, right? Are you buying this?"
With Carson’s questioning, Katherine’s previous behavior of snatching ahead of Carson to purchase items now seemed incredibly foolish, as if she were a rich simpleton.
Grinding her teeth, Katherine huffed coldly, "I don’t want any of them!"
As Katherine turned to leave, Carson couldn’t help but taunt, "Hey, I thought you were so rich; turns out it’s all just a show—pretending to be wealthy here and shouting prices can’t afford in the end. Shopkeeper, you should remember her face, better not let her into your store next time. Otherwise, she might just ruin all your honest business."
Katherine seethed, "Who said I can’t afford it?"
Carson replied, clear-cut, "You, who else could I be talking about?"
Katherine sneered, "How could I not afford it? You should ask around, am I, Katherine Reid, lacking Spirit Stones?"
Carson stated firmly, "At first you pretended to be wealthy, but when you couldn’t keep up the act, you didn’t buy anything. You were saying earlier that I was someone with an empty purse pretending to be rich. The shopkeeper might not mind customers without money just looking around, but he would certainly despise someone like you who pretends to be rich and disrupts his legitimate business..."
