Zion Frost clenched his teeth, his gaze filled with rage.
To think he’d been outwitted by some young brat!
In their current state, slinking away in defeat was absolutely out of the question.
After all the trouble he went through to plot against Delaney Hunter, not taking down White Wave City would turn them into a laughingstock.
"Keep bombarding," he roared. "I want to see how many Spirit Stones they have to burn!"
Since Spiritual Fire was useless and getting close to the Aura Barrier meant being under cannon fire, everyone had no choice but to attack from the maximum range of their magical treasures or Flying Swords, continually depleting the Aura Barrier.
Those people were at a safe distance, so naturally Carson Flores didn’t dare go over and stir up trouble, especially with Zion Frost watching like a hawk.
If he went in, wouldn’t that be like walking straight into a trap?
If they wanted to waste their time and effort bombarding, then let them be. As long as they were kept at a distance, it was already a good outcome.
Carson Flores descended on his Flying Sword, returning to Hector Tate’s side.
Hector Tate, Qing Ling, and the others looked at Carson Flores with admiration and reverence.
Just now, Carson Flores had almost killed Nascent Soul Gary James, and rendered their pride—the city’s attacking Spiritual Fire—useless. That was just too impressive!
Carson Flores asked, "How many Spirit Stones will we need to consume if they bombard for a day?"
Hector Tate replied, "If they bombarded intensively from a close range as they did before, I fear even ten million Spirit Stones wouldn’t hold, but now that the intensity of the attacks has decreased a lot, I estimate that five million Spirit Stones should be enough to last us a day, possibly even less. After all, they can’t bombard for 24 hours non-stop; they too need to rest and recover."
Carson Flores nodded, "Defend then. I’ll keep watch over them. If they dare to get close, we’ll hit them with the Spirit Stone Cannons. I don’t believe Zion Frost can withstand several rounds, and I doubt those Nascent Souls and Golden Cores can either."
Hector Tate’s spirits were slightly lifted, "With the situation , as long as we have enough Spirit Stones, we can definitely hold out for ten days. It’s just... the consumption of Spirit Stones..."
Carson Flores smiled, "Let’s defend for now, we’ll think of something if it’s not enough. If we really can’t hold them off, then we’ll slip away."
Although Carson Flores had decided to defend, this defense was predicated on the Spirit Light Array not collapsing. He definitely wasn’t prepared to engage in close combat with Zion Frost.
A single Golden Core was hardly enough to withstand a slap from Zion Frost.
Upon hearing his words, Hector Tate breathed a sigh of relief; he was worried that Carson Flores was determined to go on a suicidal offensive...
"Alright, if we can’t hold them off, we’ll leave under the cover of night using the fastest Flying Boat. There’s definitely no problem escaping."
Carson Flores nodded.
And so, the matter was settled.
At noon, Situ Xiu found Carson Flores and handed over several Space Rings filled with Spirit Stones.
"The items you gave me, I’ve evaluated them all, worth four million two hundred thousand. Your own Spirit Stones total thirteen million one hundred fifty thousand, adding up to seventeen million three hundred fifty thousand. I’ve rounded it up, here’s twenty-five million, take it."
Carson Flores raised an eyebrow, "Rounded up? What do you mean by the extra seven million or so?"
Situ Xiu smiled, "I’m a disciple of the Flying Waterfall Mountain Peak too. The Peak Master made sure we all had a way out by taking down White Wave City, and now others are at our doorstep. If I were powerless to resist, I’d just lie flat. But since there’s a way to hold them off, of course I have to do my part."
"You’ve just arrived and yet you’re willing to use your own Spirit Stones to help defend the city. I can’t just do nothing, right? Setting aside official matters, speaking personally, you saved my life. Whatever you want to do, I’ll naturally support you unconditionally."
"Everyone has quite a few Spirit Stone Cards on hand, but not so many Spirit Stones. This is all I could gather for now, I’m still trying to find other ways. If it’s not enough, I’ll keep gathering. I think I can pull together another ten million Spirit Stones without a problem."
Carson Flores laughed, "All this at no cost?"
Situ Xiu laughed back, "Of course, it’s without cost. If we fail to defend the city, we’ll run with you. If we ever get strong again, then we can just come back."
Carson Flores laughed and clapped Situ Xiu on the arm, "Alright, thanks. I won’t be bashful about it. Every sacrifice now will be accounted for in the future."
Situ Xiu spoke brightly, "Your word is enough for me. I’ll follow your lead."
After Situ Xiu left, Carson Flores passed the Spirit Stones to Hector Tate. Amidst his joy, Hector Tate was deeply moved, "I’m such a useless Acting City Lord. When it truly comes down to it, I can’t protect White Wave City. In the end, it’s up to you, Junior Brother, to put your wallet and connections on the line..."
Carson Flores smiled, "Let’s not talk about that now. Let’s get through this crisis together. It’s also thanks to the solid foundation you’ve laid. If you hadn’t built so many Spirit Light Arrays, endless Spirit Stones wouldn’t have made any difference."
Pausing for a moment, Carson Flores revealed a mischievous smile, "When there’s nothing to do, send some people to insult those guys, undermine their morale. After all, being under scrutiny every day and bombing the barrier without breaking through must be quite frustrating. Let’s add fuel to their fire..."
