"Dad, where are you off to?"
Father Ya watched his own father hurriedly heading towards the courtyard door and poked his head out from the corner of the yard to ask.
"Mind your own business, do I need your input when I’m handling affairs?" Clan Chief Ya was feeling tense and had a buildup of frustration with nowhere to vent. Upon hearing his son’s voice, he seized the opportunity to vent his anger.
Father Ya, scolded dumbfounded, turned to his son Ya Yulan.
"Yulan, what’s got into your grandfather?"
"Dad, pay him no mind. He and Yu Ju are crazy for silver."
Ya Yulan held a book in his hand, reading as he answered his father.
He was eagerly anticipating the outcome of this grandfather and grandson’s antics. They’ve been flaunting their power as clan chief, intimidating one and all, utterly smug.
Now his grandfather had started acting like a tyrant of Ya Village.
Well, it served them right. The situation with Ya Molian might sober up his grandfather and Yu Ju, teaching them that one individual, even if the clan chief, cannot dominate Ya Village.
"Is the news spreading outside true?"
Father Ya’s face first blanched in astonishment, then understanding dawned on him.
"Your grandfather is really muddled. Why didn’t you try to deter him, stop him and Yu Ju from making a fool of themselves?"
"Do you think I could dissuade those two?"
On hearing this, Ya Yulan looked up from his book, shot Father Ya a pointed look that clearly asked: Are you capable of persuading them?
Father Ya was completely taken aback by his son’s words and awkwardly rubbed his nose.
He had no hopes here. In the eyes of his father, he was as naive as a block of wood, unable to ever acquire his father’s cunning nature. Bearing this in mind, his father had given up on him.
As for Yulan, he was an inflexible behavior kid. His father harbored no hopes for him either, placing all his expectations on Yu Ju instead.
Luckily Yu Ju was a girl. Eventually, she would get married, and through her husband’s discipline, she could reform and correct her mannerisms.
If she had been a boy, what then would have become of the future!
"Who the heck locked the courtyard door? Yu Ju is still outside, are you both not aware?"
While the two were engaged in their corner chat, Clan Chief Ya noticed the latched courtyard door, which instantly made him hopping mad. He glared venomously at the two in the corner with bloodshot eyes.
"Grandpa, is Yu Ju unable to speak? Can’t she call for help if she cannot open the door?"
Ya Yulan, unable to hold back any longer, put away his book, stood up and questioned his grandfather.
"We still have livestock in the yard. If we leave the door open and the animals run away, who would you blame? Surely, you would blame my parents!"
Clan Chief Ya was infuriated by his remark and wanted to severely reprimand his grandson, but, on second thoughts, he remembered that his granddaughter was still outside, so he had to go and fetch her first.
After shooting Ya Yulan a fierce glare, he unlatched the lock and opened the courtyard door.
"You... Who are you?"
As soon as he opened the courtyard door, he saw several people standing outside, men and women, young and old, and also...
"Yu Ju, why are you with them, who are they...uh!"
Upon seeing Yu Ju, Clan Chief Ya wanted to step forward and figure out what was happening. Little did he know, the person leading the group would cover his mouth and push him back into the courtyard.
