Chapter 52: Chapter 52 Beware of Him
“What are you looking at me for?”
“I—” Gu Ya’s expression stiffened for a moment, and then he awkwardly looked away from Yunjin’s face. Yunjin didn’t bother with Gu Ya anymore and continued to sit down at the table to take her medicine.
The medicine was bitter. Like the previous two times, Yunjin swallowed all the medicine in the bowl in one breath, and her brows furrowed at the bitterness.
Gu Ya’s hand, at some point, had poured a cup of water and handed it to Yunjin, “Yun Niang, here, rinse your mouth, it’ll feel better.” Yunjin looked at Gu Ya, the medicine in her mouth was indeed too bitter, and not refusing, she took the water from Gu Ya’s hands and rinsed her mouth with it.
Yunjin drank the water and spat it out twice in succession. On the third time, Yunjin clearly felt that the bitterness in her mouth wasn’t as strong anymore.
After rinsing her mouth, Yunjin casually passed the cup back to Gu Ya and wiped her face and hands with a cloth. Gu Ya placed the cup Yunjin had used to rinse her mouth casually on the table, then turned back to look at Yunjin who was wiping her face and said, “Yun Niang, it’s getting late. We should get some rest early!”
“Sure!” Yunjin had indeed planned to sleep. She put down the cloth in her hand and walked to the bed. This time, Yunjin still chose the inside of the bed to sleep, leaving the outside empty for Gu Ya.
Seeing the space his little wife had left for him, the corners of Gu Ya’s mouth curved up slightly, and then he extinguished the oil lamp in the room and lay down next to his little wife.
Yunjin, lying inside, felt Gu Ya’s body lie down next to her, and then she smelled the soapberry fragrance emanating from him.
Gu Ya might have done it on purpose, or not, but his broad, strong hand landed exactly where Yunjin had placed hers.
Subconsciously, Yunjin wanted to pull her hand away!
But suddenly, it was caught by Gu Ya’s large hand.
Due to years of hunting, Gu Ya’s palms and fingertips had a layer of calluses. As soon as Yunjin’s hand was caught by Gu Ya’s large one, she felt his calluses.
Gu Ya’s hand was warm, and Yunjin’s hand was almost half the size of his, so it was easily enveloped entirely within his palm. Being suddenly wrapped in Gu Ya’s large hand made Yunjin feel inexplicably comfortable, and for a moment, she even forgot about withdrawing her hand.
It took a while before Yunjin came to her senses, but when she tried to pull her hand away, she found it was being held tightly by Gu Ya and couldn’t be moved at all.
“Let go!” Being held by Gu Ya, Yunjin couldn’t sleep at all. Since she couldn’t pull her hand away, she gritted her teeth and forced Gu Ya to release her.
Gu Ya didn’t make it difficult for his little wife. As soon as Yunjin had spoken, Gu Ya gently squeezed the center of her hand, making it tickle, before satisfyingly letting go of her hand.
After this little episode, Yunjin tried even harder to keep her distance from Gu Ya in bed, moving her body as far inside as possible, leaving the outside space for Gu Ya to sleep.
Yunjin stayed alert for Gu Ya, and after a good while, seeing that Gu Ya was behaving, she gradually let her guard down. Gu Ya, lying beside Yunjin, didn’t fall asleep at all until he smelled his little wife’s fine breathing and knew she had fallen asleep. Only then did he get up, kissed her forehead, and murmured, “What kind of person guards against her own husband like you do?”
Yunjin murmured something in her sleep, turned over, and continued to sleep. Gu Ya, taking advantage of his little wife’s sleeping state, no longer pretended to be proper and very rightfully pulled her into his arms to sleep holding her.
