Chapter 60: Chapter 60 Apology
Su Yunjin felt a wave of guilt.
She didn’t dare to speak again.
It was the shopkeeper who looked at Su Yunjin and Gu Ya in confusion and tentatively asked, “What’s the matter? Are you two not brother and sister?”
Gu Ya snorted coldly, his handsome face still very unpleasant to look at “What do you think?”
“I—” It wasn’t actually the shopkeeper’s fault for mistaking Su Yunjin and Gu Ya, man and wife, as siblings. Just before, a young couple buying candied fruits were flirting with each other, sticking close like honey mixed with oil, obviously sweet enough for anyone with eyes to see that they were husband and wife.

The two of them stood there with virtually no interaction. Honestly, it was hard to tell that they were a married couple; they looked more like siblings who had come to buy candy together.
Seeing that Gu Ya’s face was not looking good, the shopkeeper didn’t dare to say they were siblings anymore. He quickly turned to Su Yunjin and asked, “Miss, which candies would you like to buy?”
Su Yunjin had no interest in any of the candies in the shop, but since she had already brought it up, she glanced over the candies again and her gaze rested on a pile of yellow candies shaped like zongzi (sticky rice dumplings). The shopkeeper immediately smiled and introduced, “Miss, this is zongzi candy. Would you one?”
“Hmm, that one!” Su Yunjin didn’t plan to buy any specific candy and casually chose the zongzi candy. In addition, she bought a bag of crispy sesame candy.
After making her casual selection and not forgetting that Gu Ya had also come to buy candy, Su Yunjin kindly asked Gu Ya, “Okay, I’ve made my choice. Now it’s your turn. Which candy would you like to pick?”
Gu Ya gave Su Yunjin a glance but did not respond. His handsome face, though slightly improved from before, was still very displeasing to look at.
“…” Gu Ya ignored Su Yunjin, leaving her feeling awkward and a bit frustrated. He did not tell the shopkeeper what he wanted but directly asked, “How much for the two bags of candy my wife bought?”
“Young master, this lady is your wife?” The shopkeeper was somewhat sweating, realizing his mistake. He’d just called a married couple brother and sister, no wonder the young master’s face had turned so grim. Understanding the relationship between Gu Ya and Su Yunjin, the shopkeeper immediately apologized to Gu Ya, “I’m so sorry, I misspoke earlier. Please accept my apologies!”
Standing to the side, Su Yunjin felt Gu Ya’s gaze on her and didn’t dare to look, feeling guilty. The shopkeeper announced the price, Gu Ya took out silver to pay, and Su Yunjin held the candies. Gu Ya looked at her, his tone rather cold, “Aren’t you leaving?”
Su Yunjin asked Gu Ya, “Aren’t you buying any candy?”
“Didn’t we just make a purchase?” Gu Ya stopped and looked at Su Yunjin, his gaze falling on the candy in her hands.
Su Yunjin said, “This is what I bought! Don’t you also like eating candy? Why didn’t you buy a bag for yourself?”
“…” This time Gu Ya was utterly silent!
How could he, a grown man, possibly enjoy those little treats that women love?
Especially candy, which is sweet and sickly.
Su Yunjin tentatively asked Gu Ya, “Don’t you like eating candy?”
“Who told you I like candy?” Gu Ya answered with a question of his own.
