"Hmm?" Ruan Jiaojiao suddenly snapped back to reality, looking up at him: "Brother?"
"What are you thinking about? You’re so spaced out," Ruan Hao teased, stroking her small cheek.
Ruan Jiaojiao shook her head, saying nothing.
She didn’t know how to describe her current feelings; from the moment she learned Shu Jiao was coming back, that strange sensation had persisted.
She felt as though there was something hidden in her mind, about to burst forth... yet when she deliberately tried to capture it, she could catch nothing, which left her with a sense of melancholy and loss.
"Are you so happy you’ve gone silly?" Ruan Jianguo took his seat in the car, looking back with a smile at Ruan Jiaojiao and also reached out to pat her small head, coaxing, "Sit tight; we are going back soon. Ruan Jie, stop looking and sit properly; we can look once we’re back!"
"Yes." Ruan Jie nodded, shifting to settle himself properly.
When they returned to the Ruan Family home, Xiu Xi had also come back from the front mountain, this time bringing back a Musk deer; the Ruanlin Family, worried about attracting too much attention, led the Musk deer into the chicken coop they had set up.
A few boys were crowding around to watch; hearing the sound of the tricycle, they then hurried out.

The Ruanlin Family did not come out from the house, Ruan Jianguo could not be bothered with her, lifting one of the bags and walking towards the courtyard; followed by a few boys carrying the other bag, they went into the yard and then slammed the door shut with a bang.
