Nanny Fang hesitated a bit.

“You need to calm down,” the maid coaxed.

No servant dared reply, all they could do was listen attentively.
Old Madam Gu gritted her teeth and declared, “This girl raised in the countryside lacks manners! Coarse by nature!”
The maid bowed even lower, wondering after hearing so many secrets. She feared she might be silenced…
“If she falls into my hands, I wouldn’t spare her without a harsh lesson!” Old Madam Gu grew angrier as she spoke, “Where is Yao’s family? Call them for me!”
It had been long since she returned to the mansion. Every day she was cooped up in her room, claiming to be sick and never even once came forward to establish rules.
A close maid advised, “Why stoop to her level? Speech won’t come out from a beaten tongue.”
This was a painful truth, the Old Madam had tried multiple times to set rules for the Yao family, but no matter how she grinded them, they were just like soulless wooden dolls. The old lady felt like she was punching cotton.
In the end, she didn’t know if the Yao family was wronged, but she herself was furious.
“Have the peonies in the flower room bloomed?” The close maid silently asked the little maid massaging Old Madam Gu’s legs.
The maid replied, “Yes, the peonies are in bloom. I checked this morning, they’ve bloomed beautifully!”

The maid continued, “I’ll go get a few pots for you.”
