Chapter 274: 156 Great Disaster Looming (Gu Jinyu)
Gu Changqing gave a cold look, picked up the medicine bowl, and gently began to feed Gu Yan.
Gu Changqing was the oldest brother, and he had two younger brothers. Even though he was not much older than them, ever since their birth mother’s early demise, the stepmother had joined the family, and their father’s eyes were filled only with the stepmother and her pair of children.

Gu Yan, delirious from the fever, failed to register Gu Changqing’s presence and believed he was dreaming. He absent-mindedly allowed all the medicine to be fed to him.
Gu Changqing rewarded him with another piece of candied fruit.
He did not eat it, but held it in his hand.
Gu Changqing wondered, “Why aren’t you eating?”
Gu Yan responded pitifully, “If I wake and the candied fruit is still there, then I’ll know it wasn’t a dream.”

At dawn, Gu Yan’s high fever finally stabilized, showing no signs of flaring up again.

The Yao Family had visited once, and learned about the children’s illness. She was anxious, but never having had chickenpox, Gu Jiao had not allowed her indoors.

The weather was good today. There was no wind, and the sun was shining brightly. It felt comfortably warm.

The Yao Family’s courtyard was very remote. One had to pass through two interior doors, go through Shuixie Garden, and circumnavigate half the residence.

This version was smoother, and the quality of the sound from the guqin was also purer.

From within the pavilion, a young girl dressed in pink robes sincerely complimented Gu Jinyu.
Gu Jinyu stroke the guqin strings and gently glanced at the girl, “Once you learn how to play, you will be able to play it equally well.”
