Xia Ye Zhao’s heart jumped, “Who are you looking for?”
The small voice on the phone was both sweet and cool, “Who is this ‘uncle’? I’m looking for my mom.”

A twitch tugged at Xia Ye Zhao’s mouth, “Your mom went to the ward for a consultation.”

The little boy just hung up the phone.
Chang Danran stayed in the ward for a while, preparing herself mentally before returning to the doctor’s office. Xia Ye Zhao was nowhere to be seen. She paused slightly in surprise, not sure if she felt relieved or lost.

It had started to rain next to the hospital, a torrential downpour, mirroring some people’s moods.

When the elevator reached the second floor, another group of people entered. A girl standing in front of Chang Danran didn’t watch her step and almost stepped on Chang Danran’s foot, but Xia Ye Zhao was quick to react. He shifted to the side, one hand against the elevator wall, preventing the girl from stepping backward.
