"Xiao Xi, will you come see me again?"
"I am your attending doctor, of course I’ll come again. I wouldn’t want anything happening to a patient under my care." Han Xi’s words clearly distanced their relationship.
Li Chenghao’s pale lips curled into a slight smile, his deep eyes filled with melancholic sorrow. "As long as you can come, that’s enough."
He didn’t care in what capacity Han Xi appeared before him, as long as she could appear within his sight.
At least for now, he didn’t dare to hope that Han Xi would accept him again.
After Han Xi and Lu Jinghan left, Han Siyu couldn’t help but speak up: "Chenghao, can’t you stop deceiving yourself? She doesn’t love you anymore. She’s now Mrs. Lu. Everything from four years ago has changed, and I’m the only one still waiting for you here. Why won’t you just look back at me?"
Li Chenghao’s eyes, as dark and cold as a thousand-year-old icy pool, were filled with icy shards, his voice weak yet obviously resentful: "Who should be blamed for the way Xiao Xi and I became what we are today?"
Han Siyu’s hands, placed on her legs, clenched tightly: "For all these years, I’ve swallowed my pride, clinging shamelessly to your side. Doesn’t that count at all compared to Han Xi? Even though she’s already fallen in love with another man?"
"You can’t even compare to a finger of Xiao Xi’s."
Han Siyu tilted her head back, trying hard not to let the tears in her eyes fall. After all, she was already battered and bruised, she didn’t mind if Li Chenghao sprinkled more salt on her wounds.
Back in the office, Han Xi clung to Lu Jinghan, her voice soft as she asked him, "Are you mad?"
"Yes, very mad. Seeing Li Chenghao’s eyes glued to you just makes me want to punch him."
If it weren’t for him lying in bed unable to move, Lu Jinghan would have swung a fist at him a long time ago.
"Do you believe me? Now my heart is completely filled with you. I think of you every day, even when you’re right by my side, I still miss you a lot."
Lu Jinghan cupped Han Xi’s small face in his hands, his earlier displeasure had long dissipated. "Mrs. Lu’s profound confession of love is gratefully accepted. And thank you for loving me so much."
Han Xi stood on tiptoe and kissed Lu Jinghan’s thin lips. The slightly cool softness touched together, Lu Jinghan held Han Xi tightly in his arms with one hand, the other hand clasped the back of Han Xi’s head, leaning in to deepen the kiss.
Han Xi’s body was forced to lean back, the two trapped in a passionate entanglement, their fluids mingling.......
Until Lu Jinghan’s phone inconveniently rang, causing Han Xi to push him away with a blush. "Answer the phone first."
Lu Jinghan frowned as he pulled the phone out of his pocket. Seeing the caller ID was Feng Yi, he thought this better be important, or else he’s done for.
Lu Jinghan released Han Xi, took the phone, and walked to the window before answering: "What’s up?"
"I’ve been looking for you all morning, where did you go?"
"If you have something to say, say it quickly. If not, hang up." Lu Jinghan’s voice was obviously impatient.
"It’s nothing important, just wanted to ask if you wanted to have lunch with Fu Bin and me. I found a place....."
Before Feng Yi could finish, he heard the mechanical busy tone from the receiver. Feng Yi belatedly realized that he might have interrupted something good for Lu Jinghan.
