Feng Yi glanced at the watch on his wrist: "I have some matters to attend to later, so let’s eat at the restaurant next to our company. It’s my treat."
"Sure, then I’ll treat you tomorrow."
Feng Yi’s deep dark eyes gleamed as he spoke, walking towards the elevator: "No need, no need for this kind of reciprocal courtesy."
Li Manman’s hand was always linked to Feng Yi’s arm, maybe because of her lip color, her moderately made-up face looked a bit seductive: "Am I some kind of deadly beast that’s going to consume you?"
"You’re not far from it."
The elevator doors opened, and the two walked in together. Inside stood a bespectacled man, the company’s legal advisor, Zhang Zhen.
He usually had a good relationship with Feng Yi. When he saw Li Manman walking in arm-in-arm with Feng Yi, his curious eyes lit up.
"Is she your girlfriend? So pretty."
Before Feng Yi could speak, Li Manman interjected: "Hello, I’m Li Manman."
Feng Yi turned his head towards Zhang Zhen with a solemn face: "You talk quite a lot."
Zhang Zhen dropped his head, looking bitter, had he said something wrong?
If she’s not your girlfriend, why let her hold your arm?
Li Manman, however, leaned over to Zhang Zhen with a grin and asked quietly: "Does this guy often act with women?" After speaking, worried Zhang Zhen wouldn’t understand, she quickly added: "Like with physical contact."
"No, our President Lu and President Feng never get close to women." Zhang Zhen adjusted the golden frame on his nose.
Li Manman looked at Feng Yi with a knowing expression, but her smile grew even wider.
Feng Yi maintained his posture with one hand in his pocket, his eyes showed no panic at being exposed.
Li Manman internally thought slyly: Truly, a silent... charmer.
After they left the elevator, they didn’t drive but walked to the nearby restaurant within a little over ten minutes. Li Manman took out her phone from her bag and unexpectedly took a photo of the two of them.
"What are you doing?" Feng Yi frowned as he looked at Li Manman.
"Isn’t it obvious? I’m taking a photo, of course."
Li Manman glanced at the photo in her phone, almost unable to close her mouth from smiling: "I think we look quite a match, you should hurry up and be my boyfriend."
"For the sake of my little sister-in-law, we can be friends, but if it’s as boyfriend and girlfriend, then forget it."
Li Manman turned off her phone, her dark pupils glared at Feng Yi: "We have to be friends for Han Xi’s sake? How terrible am I really? The people chasing me could line up from here to the Huangpu River, don’t be so self-satisfied, I must have been blind to fancy you."
Feng Yi wanted to laugh seeing Li Manman’s exasperated look, wasn’t she supposed to be very thick-skinned?
Not much more than this.
Feng Yi noncommittally nodded, turned around, and strode into the restaurant, followed by a slightly aggrieved Li Manman.
They found a seat by the window, and soon the waiter brought the ordered meal. Li Manman took a bite: "Hey, how come you have my phone number?"
After Han Xi had an incident yesterday, Feng Yi hurriedly called to notify her.
Feng Yi looked up, took a sip from the water on his left before speaking: "I got it from Fu Bin."
"You could have just had Fu Bin call me, why bother to call me yourself?"
Li Manman spoke calmly, with an expression that said, let’s see how you explain yourself.
