Han Xi glanced at the watch on his wrist and stood up from the sofa with his coat: "Let’s go to the hospital to check on Chu Ci first."
"Okay. Hey, that painting is of your family of three, right? Why did you paint this little fellow as a boy?"
Li Manman’s gaze was inevitably drawn to the painting on the wall, as everyone seemed to ask about the little fellow’s gender upon seeing it.
"Jing Han said Little Bun is so mischievous, he might be a boy."
"I think so too. This Little Bun is quite naughty. Other people usually gain weight during pregnancy, but you’ve lost quite a bit."
"Don’t blame Little Bun; it’s because I’m physically weak that I keep vomiting."
The two of them talked as they walked out of the villa and got into the car. After fastening their seat belts, Li Manman turned the steering wheel onto the main road.
The car soon parked in the underground parking lot of the hospital. After getting out, the two of them took the elevator and saw a man lurking suspiciously at the entrance of Chu Ci’s ward when they came out.
"Could it be the guy who stalked Chu Ci yesterday?" Han Xi whispered to Li Manman as he held her arm.
"Possibly. Stay away from him later."
As they got closer, Li Manman assertively patted the man’s shoulder: "What are you sneaking around for? Was it you who stalked Chu Ci yesterday?"
The man, wearing a black baseball cap and mask, was unrecognizable. He shot a sharp look at Li Manman, shook off her hand, and ran away.
"He’s quite a runner. It must have been him who stalked Chu Ci."
"Alright, let’s go inside."
When the two pushed the door into the ward, Chu Ci was already hooked up to an IV drip: "Why are you two here?"
"We were worried about you, so we came to check on you."
Fu Bin, who was by the window on the phone, heard them and quickly ended his call: "Little Sister-in-law, you’re here."
Han Xi nodded and sat on the sofa: "Just now, Manman and I saw a shady man in the corridor, possibly the stalker from yesterday."
"I’ve checked yesterday’s surveillance from the residential area; the man was wearing a hat and mask, so you can’t discern his appearance."
"Right, right, the man outside was wearing a hat and mask. Could he be some crazy fan?"
Li Manman grew increasingly anxious, her worries about Chu Ci rising.
Fu Bin sat next to Chu Ci: "Don’t worry. I arranged for someone to guard here yesterday, he won’t get away."
Just as Fu Bin finished speaking, his phone rang. He took it out from his pocket and answered directly. We don’t know what the caller said, but Fu Bin’s face suddenly turned grim: "Teach him a lesson. If he dares stalk again, break his leg."
After hanging up, Chu Ci looked up at him: "Did they catch him?"
"Yes, these fans are really delusional now, actually claiming you’re his."
Li Manman laughed teasingly: "Stop getting jealous over everything. Our Chu Ci is a public figure with plenty of admirers. Even if you get jealous, you won’t keep up."
"Not just anyone can covet what’s mine. For fans like this, I’ll beat up every single one I catch."
"This crazy fan does deserve a beating, causing Chu Ci to need to protect her pregnancy."
Li Manman and Han Xi stayed at the hospital until almost noon before leaving. After dropping Han Xi off at home, Li Manman lingered for lunch, then mentioned going shopping. Han Xi was too tired and sleepy to accompany her.
