After sending that girl off, Han Xi went straight to her room to sleep.
She had no idea how long she’d been asleep when she was suddenly awakened by the phone ringing. Groggily, she felt for her phone on the bed, pressing several times before answering: "Hello..."
"Were you asleep?"
Lu Jinghan’s clear and sexy voice came through the phone, instantly waking Han Xi up completely. She sat up on the bed with a gentle smile: "I miss you."
"I miss you and Little Bun too. As soon as I finished work, I called you. I can probably come back tomorrow."
Lu Jinghan was standing in front of the conference room’s floor-to-ceiling window, tiredly pinching the bridge of his nose with the hand holding a cigarette, his eyes filled with red veins.
He had gone straight to the company after getting off the plane and had been busy without a break until now.
"I want to see you. Can we video chat now?"
Han Xi missed Lu Jinghan terribly. They had only been apart for less than twenty hours, yet she was already longing for him so much. How pathetic.
"Sure, let’s video chat now."
After hanging up the call, Lu Jinghan sent over the video. Han Xi looked at his bloodshot eyes and the stubble appearing, her heart aching as she furrowed her brow: "Haven’t you slept at all?"
"No, I wanted to finish work quickly so I can come home to be with you."
"I’m fine alone at home. Seeing you like this makes me worried. You’re not made of iron, hurry up and get some sleep."
With a deep gaze, Lu Jinghan looked at the woman on the screen and lovingly raised his finger to touch her lips: "I really want to come home right now."
"Go to the hotel and sleep quickly, or I won’t talk to you anymore."
The smile at the corner of Lu Jinghan’s mouth grew deeper, as if seeing Han Xi could heal his exhaustion: "Silly girl, patiently wait for me to come back."
After ending the video chat, Han Xi quickly typed a few lines on the screen and sent them over: [Send me a photo when you get to the hotel. I need to see you lying in bed before I can relax.]
[Got it, honey.]
Han Xi turned off the phone, tossed the covers aside, and went downstairs.
In the kitchen, Sister Zhang and a nutritionist were preparing dinner, while Han Xi sat on the sofa in the living room, leaning over to pick up the remote control from the coffee table and turning on the TV, finding the series {Descendants of the Sun} she hadn’t finished watching.
Soon, Lu Jinghan sent a photo from the hotel, seemingly just after a shower, as his hair looked damp.
Han Xi smiled lightly and looked at it several times before turning off the phone.
Zhong Li had to work late tonight and called Han Xi, telling her that the girl should eat dinner on her own and not wait for her.
Zhong Li was already dressed to leave when Gu Nanxi called her back to the office for overtime. She was now busy revising documents in the office.
Gu Nanxi walked in carrying a bag of food, and hearing the footsteps, Zhong Li looked up, her face dark as she looked at him: "You’re doing this on purpose, these documents clearly have no problems."
"If I say there are problems, there are problems. Come have dinner first."
"Thanks for your kind offer, President Gu. I just want to finish revising the documents quickly and then go home after work."
Gu Nanxi placed the paper bag on the table and stepped toward Zhong Li: "There’s no one in the company now, you’d better be obedient."
Zhong Li lifted her eyes with guardedness to look at him, thinking he was truly domineering: "President Gu, with the time spent eating, I could have already revised the documents. I’m worried about Xiao Xi being alone at home. I just want to quickly finish the revisions and go home to be with her."
