Their conversation caught Aunt Liu’s attention as she was passing by. She chuckled, “Yo, Chuan, you and your wife really seem to be getting along well.”
“That’s right,” he agreed, “My wife is the tigress of the house. Even if I wanted to not get along with her, she’d bite me.”
“…” Su Qingyue was so angry she smacked his back. “What nonsense, I’m so gentle, how could I ever be a tigress?”
“As long as the husband and wife are getting along, it’s a good thing.” Aunt Liu uttered a word and headed towards her vegetable field.
When Xiao Yuchuan and Su Qingyue reached the edge of the field, he said, “Wife, you just let your husband do the digging, don’t try to help.”
Xiao Yishan also intervened, “Wife, just leave the farming to me and Chuan.”
“It’s okay,” she replied, “I can help with the digging, it will be faster.”
“Alright then.” Xiao Yishan nodded, “Just don’t tire yourself out.”
The trio began digging in a few vegetable fields side by side, one row after another.

“Alright then. Just make sure you don’t tire yourself out.” Xiao Yuchuan left his hoe on the ground, walked to the edge of the field, picked up the water pot from the vegetable basket, poured a cup of water for Su Qingyue. “Come, wife, take a sip of water.”
As the digging was physically demanding, Su Qingyue was indeed thirsty. She finished the water in the cup in a few big gulps.
Xiao Yuchuan asked, “Do you want more?”
He then put the cup back into the basket, lifted the water pot, tipped it upwards, and drank straight from it.
A bead of sweat slipped down his forehead and down his neck into his clothes.
Watching the sturdy lines of his neck, his attractive sun-kissed skin, Su Qingyue suddenly felt a bit thirsty again.
Xiao Yishan also went, picked up the pot, and drank energetically shortly after.
Qingyue didn’t pay attention to second brother though.
The sun in the morning was fairly warm, Su Qingyue dug the field till noon and didn’t go back in the afternoon.
In the afternoon, Xiao Yishan and Xiao Yuchuan went in separate directions to different fields.
Xiao Yuchuan’s field was around the corner of a mountain outside the village and there were no one else working nearby.
Liu Xianglian had been secretly observing Xiao Yuchuan’s actions. When she saw that he had gone alone to his field with a hoe in hand, she quietly followed him.
Surrounded by the beautiful green mountains, a cool mountain breeze blew, providing some respite from the hot weather.
