Li Rong’er finished frying the vegetables and carried the meal and a bowl of medicine on a tray, bringing it into Xiao Yishan’s house.
A table had been placed beside the bed.
The Xiao family had equipped each of their four bedrooms with a separate square table, each with a water pot on top.
She set the tray on the table.
Picking up the rice bowl and serving him some vegetables, she offered, “Brother Xiao, would you like me to feed you?”
Hearing this, a suspicious blush crept onto Xiao Yishan’s face, “No need, it’s not my hand that’s injured. Just pull the table a bit closer, and I can dine by myself.”
“Yes,” she replied, placing the bowl and chopsticks back on the table and pulling it closer to the edge of the bed.
Xiao Yishan struggled to sit up from the bed, but accidentally pulled his injury, grimacing in pain.
“Second young Master, let me help you.” She quickly supported his back, carefully helping him up.
He hadn’t eaten breakfast and it was nearly noon.
Xiao Yishan picked up his bowl and chopsticks and started eating the fried pork, chewing with big bites.
Noticing Li Rong’er watching him, he asked somewhat awkwardly, “Have you eaten?”
It then occurred to him that she had also been busy all morning because of his injury. Observing her beautiful pale face, he felt a twinge of pity, “Go get yourself a set of bowl and chopsticks, and we’ll eat together.”

He felt a stir of desire, but knew it was merely a man’s impulse towards a woman.
To be frank, he did appreciate Li Rong’er and felt fond of her, but it was not the deep affection he held for his dear wife.
The wound from the knife still hurt, so he kept a stiff face without uttering a word.
His wife’s actions truly chilled his heart.
Seeing him silent, tears of shame glistened in Li Rong’er’s eyes, “Second young Master, it’s just the silly thoughts of a servant. How could I, merely a servant, be deserving of you…”
Xiao Yishan’s stern expression softened, “You shouldn’t belittle yourself. A knowledgeable and well-mannered woman like you… it is I, Xiao Yishan, who is unworthy of you.”
“You really are a good person, second young Master,” she said with a wry smile, “Please eat up quickly, and after the meal, take your medicine. Fourth young Master said your injury should be fine in seven or eight days.”
