The empress and the emperor looked over and screamed. Xi Lin then fell towards Xi Jin, who was on the ground. “Jin’er.”
Just as Feng Tianlan and Si Mobai were about to walk out through the palace gates, they heard the scream. Feng Tianlan immediately turned around, shocked, to see what was going on and saw Xi Lin and the others rushing towards Xi Jin. Xi Lin rested Xi Jin in her arms while she wiped the blood that was flowing down the corner of his mouth with her trembling hands. Tears were pouring down her face. “Imperial physician! Imperial physician! Big brother, don’t scare me,” Xi Lin said.
“Jin’er, what’s wrong with you? Don’t scare your queen mother.” The empress fell towards him. Her trembling voice made her speech incomprehensible.
The emperor gave out an order immediately. “Seal off all the exits in the palace. No one is allowed to leave or enter. I want to investigate who exactly tried to harm my Crown Prince,” he said.
Shen Yunya raised her head and saw Xi Jin, who had darkly colored blood flowing from the corner of his mouth. She then staggered towards him. The phoenix coronet fell off her head, but she didn’t have the time to care about it as she threw herself at him. “Brother Jin…”
“Scram. Don’t touch my big brother, you vicious woman.” Xi Lin reached out and slapped Shen Yunya’s hands away from him while crying. Her hands were covered with the black-colored blood that had come out of Xi Jin’s mouth.
Everything turned into chaos in a split second.
When Feng Tianlan saw the dark blood that was flowing nonstop out of Xi Jin’s mouth, she realized that he had been poisoned. She then called out immediately, “Azurite, quickly, go take a look at him.”
Xi Jin’s vision was blurry. However, he could hear everything around him clearly. The dark blood was flowing out of the corner of his mouth. He grabbed the hand Xi Lin was using to wipe the blood off. “I am sorry… Take good care of… Father and mother. I am heading off… to meet… Dai’er.”
Xi Lin shook her head while crying. “No, big brother. Dai’er…”
Shen Yunya pushed Xi Lin away and wrapped her arms around Xi Jin. “Brother Jin, you must not die. You cannot die.”
When Azurite saw the crowd surrounding Xi Jin, she immediately carried the empress, who could do nothing but cry, away. She then squeezed her way through the crowd to check on Xi Jin’s condition.
As Xi Jin’s consciousness was slowly fading, he thought he saw a person in red with a bright smile on her face getting further and further away from him. A blissful smile surfaced on his face. “Dai’er… Do I still have… The rights to love you… In my next life?”
He saw Dai’er getting further and further away from him on a horse. She was waving to him, asking him to chase after her and buy her candied chestnuts.
Azurite stood up and shook her head weakly at Feng Tianlan. “It’s suicide herb. There is no cure for it.”
“This is not happening. Brother Jin can’t die.” Feng Tianlan looked at Xi Lin, who was reaching into her pockets as if she was about to take something out. Feng Tianlan’s face then turned pale as she shook off Si Mobai’s hand that was holding hers and stepped forward to carry the empress away. She then slit her wrist and wanted to put it on Xi Jin’s mouth.
Shen Yunya pushed Feng Tianlan away and shouted at her while crying, “Scram. Don’t you touch Brother Jin. Brother Jin wouldn’t have become like this if it wasn’t for you.”
Xi Lin, who was behind them, pulled Shen Yunya up and slapped her across the face. “You are the one who should scram. You are the one who caused my brother’s death.”
Shen Yunya couldn’t be bothered about getting slapped. She wanted to push Xi Lin away and continue hugging Xi Jin. She didn’t want Shen Qingdai to touch Brother Jin at all. Not at all. Even if Brother Jin were dead, she still wouldn’t want her to touch him.
Xi Lin hated Shen Yunya to the core. She gathered her Spiritual Force in her palm and slapped Shen Yunya with it. Shen Yunya turned around and retaliated. The both of them then started fighting.
Feng Tianlan stood up and hugged Xi Jin from behind. She then put her bleeding wrist on his lips and said in a trembling voice, “Don’t die, Xi Jin. Don’t die.”
The emperor and the empress wanted to stop her, but Azurite blocked them.
Si Mobai looked at his empty hand, then raised his head and looked at Feng Tianlan, who was shivering and crying due to fear. His heart was aching badly. She cared so much about Xi Jin that she had shaken his hand off…
