"Are you sure?" Gideon Jackson pondered, "This is no small matter, the old man will definitely get very angry if he finds out."
"I’m not sure, but I did see Mia Ginger with a man at our hospital. I’m guessing it’s that Qiao guy. He seemed very accommodating to her."
As she spoke, she looked at Gideon Jackson indignantly.
The two fell silent together.
After a long while, Gideon Jackson spoke first, "Keep this matter confidential for now. Let me investigate further before making any plans, understood?"
"I understand, I’m not impulsive." Lilian Jackson nodded.
Koa Jackson and Mia Ginger finished their breakfast.
Mia Ginger went back to her room.
Koa Jackson headed to the garden and saw Gideon and Lilian Jackson talking seriously in the distance. He called out, "Gideon," and walked over.
Gideon Jackson smiled warmly, "Looks like you and the little girl are getting along well."
"Not bad." Koa Jackson nodded.
"Can I have a look at your study?" Lilian Jackson asked with a smile, "I remember you have a few books I want, so I came over specifically to ask for them."
"Hmm," Koa Jackson glanced at her, "now?"
"I’ll take you there." Koa Jackson thought for a moment and then agreed.
He led Lilian Jackson all the way to the study.
Lilian Jackson picked a few books, her gaze drawn to a painting on the wall, and she asked softly, "Did Aunt Ayla paint this?"
"Yes." Koa Jackson was momentarily stunned before responding.
"It’s been over ten years." Lilian Jackson smiled wistfully, "Sometimes I still think of her. It feels like some things from when I was a child happened just yesterday."
Koa Jackson silently looked at the paintings on the wall, without speaking.
"Koa." Lilian Jackson turned sideways, looking slightly up at him, her eyes filled with emotions, as if she had a thousand words to say.
"Let’s go out, your brother is still outside."
Koa Jackson lowered his eyes and turned to leave.
Lilian Jackson grabbed his sleeve, quickly walked two steps to stand in front of him, and lifted his wrist to look at it.
"The watch my brother gave you, don’t you like it?"
"It’s okay." Koa Jackson withdrew his hand, his long, dark eyebrows slightly furrowed.
"Then why haven’t you worn it these days," Lilian Jackson smiled bitterly, "is it because you found out it’s a couple’s watch with mine?"
"..." Koa Jackson looked at her for a moment in silence, then said flatly, "You’re always smart, there’s no need to waste time on me."
"What about you? Are you just determined to waste time on Mia Ginger?"
"That’s my business."
"But it’s not fair to you," Lilian Jackson said angrily, "just because your aunt didn’t want to marry Uncle Ginger, the marriage agreement from the previous generation has to fall on you. The old man just wants peace of mind, but why should you have to bear the grievance?"
"I don’t feel aggrieved." Koa Jackson furrowed his brows.
"How can you not feel aggrieved?" Lilian Jackson said indignantly, "What kind of status does the Jackson Family have, and what kind of status does the Ginger Family have? What is the old man’s status, what is your parents’ status? As for the Ginger Family, if it weren’t for the old man’s support over the years, Charlotte Chester’s family background wouldn’t even make it to the stage. Those two daughters of theirs, the adopted one is just so-so, and the biological one is even worse than the adopted one. If you don’t feel aggrieved, I feel aggrieved for you!"
"Have you said enough?" Koa Jackson looked at her coldly, "If you’re done, leave."
