Jun Mochan had just come out of the kitchen, he knew that Ye Ranran had lost a lot of weight lately, but he didn’t realize it was this severe.
Her frail body could barely fit into her oversized nightdress, it seemed as if a gust of wind could blow her over.
Ye Ranran left her room and saw Jun Mochan holding a bowl of soup, standing at the kitchen door, elegant and handsome, like a painting, pleasing to the eyes.
Ye Ranran felt her lifeless heart slowly reviving.
"Is it ready?" Ye Ranran approached him.
It is a simple egg soup, with some green onions sprinkled on top, smelling good.
"Hmm, want to taste?"
Ye Ranran seated herself, and Jun Mochan placed the soup in front of her.
Looking at the spoon he handed over, Ye Ranran slowly extended her right hand to take it.
She carefully hid her discomfort from Jun Mochan’s eyes, then dipped a small spoonful of soup and slowly brought it to her mouth.
The porcelain spoon was kind of large, and had some weight to it. The main thing was that her arm hadn’t fully recovered and the pain had not yet subsided.
Half-way through, Ye Ranran’s hand began to tremble badly.
"Ting." The porcelain spoon fell from her hand, making a clear sound.
Startled, Ye Ranran looked up at Jun Mochan: "I’m sorry. I lost my grip."
"Was it really just an accident?" Jun Mochan’s tone carried a touch of cold.
Found out, Ye Ranran was a little uneasy: "The bone was shattered, still has not healed, doctor said I won’t be able to lift anything heavy."
"It’s okay, I can still hold you, can’t I?" Ye Ranran looked up, grinning, making the unexpected remark.
Jun Mochan looked at her, guilt plain in his eyes. He reached out, gently held Ye Ranran and buried his head in her hair: "I’m sorry."
"Sorry for what? Don’t tell me you’ve secretly gotten another woman?" Ye Ranran raised her eyebrows, her voice also filled with humor.
"I’m sorry I wasn’t by your side, I’m sorry I didn’t protect you."
So many sorrys, so many apologies, he didn’t know what to say, or how to say.
"Everyone has to grow up. Of course, I am willing to rely on you, but if you’re gone, I should be able to protect everything you left behind."
That’s growth, isn’t it? But metamorphosis always comes with a price.
But he didn’t want her to grow up, he just wanted her to be a happy little woman, relying on him, hiding from the storms in his arms.
Not weathering the storms like a large tree.
"I’m hungry, feed me. Also, if it’s cold, I won’t drink the soup."
Jun Mochan released Ye Ranran, picked up the soup and slowly fed her.
After finishing the soup, they had a bowl of noodles and then went upstairs.
By the time Jun Mochan came out of the bath, the clock was pointing to ten.
"I’ll take you to the hospital tomorrow." Jun Mochan sat next to Ye Ranran.
"No, I just went there a couple of days ago." Ye Ranran rejected his suggestion outright.
She hated that place, very much so.
"Sweetheart, I want to know your condition clearly, then find another nutritionist. If that’s not enough, I’ll find a Chinese medicine doctor to nourish your body..." Jun Mochan rambled on.
Ye Ranran felt incredibly annoyed: "Didn’t you hear? I said I don’t want to go to the hospital."
Word by word, Ye Ranran was very firm.
It was already unbearable being forced to drink those unpalatable medicines every day, and now she has to go there too.
