The World Walker listened to the footsteps dwindling behind him, and quickly recognized that the other party had not fully mastered the use of the Grim Reaper’s legacy. Their pace was slower than he had expected, presenting a chance!
Yet, just as he fantasized about escaping due to their speed difference, a dull tolling of a bell suddenly resounded.
The sound echoed from afar, and yet it also felt as though it had exploded right next to his ear, causing his head to spin and blood to flow from his seven orifices. His steps faltered, as though he was trudging through mud—movement became incredibly difficult.
What was even more terrifying was that arms and shadowy figures began to surge out from the ground all around him. Like demonic spirits crawling out of hell, they rushed at him with malicious intent, biting and grabbing onto his body and limbs.
The World Walker struggled with all his might, but to no avail. For each ghost servant he kicked away, even more would pounce at him.
The World Walker was immobilized on the spot, unable to move.
From behind him, the Titans’ footsteps were slowly growing closer. The World Walker felt a chill run down his spine and turned around to see that the Titan Skeleton was coming his way. But this time, it was not holding a scythe but an illusion of an ancient clock.
No one else knew what the bell toll signified, but Mu You translated some hints through the Omniscient Crystal.
"Evil-suppressing Funeral Bell: One of the tools in the legend used by the Grim Reaper when hunting a target. Depending on the target’s ’wickedness level’, it will have different suppressive effects. The more evil deeds the target has committed, the stronger the effect. It can be tolled at most once a day."
The funeral bell, judging from the description, should be on par with the Reaper’s Scythe. However, this item could not be used for an attack but for suppression. Limited in its range of use, it targetted the wicked exclusively—specifically designed to deal with those who committed numerous evil deeds.
Just like the World Walker in front of them, his long history of malicious deeds would make him a prime target.
The ghost servants that surrounded him were the manifestations of those he had killed. They had effectively brought him to a point where resistance was futile.
Now, all the World Walker could do was look on in despair as the Grim Reaper’s Titan took slow but steady steps towards him, lifting his scythe and running it over his head.
A soul of ethereal blue was promptly pulled from his body, led away by the blade towards the Grim Reaper’s mouth.
The Grim Reaper’s Titan appeared to be eating a rice cake, pulling the soul longer and slowly chewing it.
When the World Walker’s soul had been stretched into an extremely thin ’noodle’ and no more could be pulled out, only then did the Grim Reaper raise his scythe again, severing the soul at its base.
The instant the soul broke off, the ghost servants surrounding the World Walker disappeared without a trace. The World Walker’s empty shell of a body was sent flying by the airflow generated by the Titan’s movement, like a kite with its string cut, flying off into the distance. Various objects began to rain down while he was in mid-air until the World Walker finally crash-landed.
Since the World Walker’s body had lost its soul, the moment it hit the ground it started rotting and decaying at a visibly alarming rate.
But just as this was happening, Red Sleeve, who had been flung before, suddenly teleported and appeared next to the World Walker’s corpse. In a panic, she used the Titan’s Hand on her right arm to envelop the World Walker’s body in energy, consequently stopping the decay—at least a complete corpse was preserved.
Mu You did not have time to worry about her, instead, he glanced curiously towards Lin Xue’s position.
Just after the phantom Grim Reaper had swallowed the World Walker’s soul, it began to chew. But even after chewing for a while, the soul remained undigested.
This was peculiar. Generally, the Grim Reaper digested souls quickly, whether it was the Snow Monster or the White Clothed One. Was the World Walker’s soul that hard to digest?

Mu You’s eyes lit up. He had no idea what it was, but anything that could be difficult for the Grim Reaper to swallow was far from common. Swiftly, he tossed out the Chain Claws, catching it before it hit the ground.
It felt icy cold to the touch.
Mu You took a closer look and discovered it was a hollow cuboid about the size of a thumb. All the crossbars on its surface were riddled with cracks, and it looked like it could crumble apart at any time. Inside the cuboid, a smaller fragment of crystal was embedded.
Mu You had never seen anything before. Instinctively, he tried to discover more about it using the Omniscient Crystal.
Yet, surprisingly, the Omniscient Crystal couldn’t return any results!
Having no other option, Mu You decided to keep it and looked ahead.
On Lin Xue’s side, after the phantom Grim Reaper had finished devouring the World Walker’s soul, it continued walking towards Red Sleeve. Its harvest was far from complete.
Seeing the fast-approaching Grim Reaper’s Titan, Red Sleeve did not react. She continued to kneel on the ground, using her arm to protect her husband’s body.
It wasn’t until the titan came to a halt in front of her that Red Sleeve looked up.
Looking at Lin Xue, hidden within the body of the titan, a trace of resentment could be seen in Red Sleeve’s eyes. But it was mostly numbness that clouded her vision.
