Touchline Rebirth: From Game To Glory Chapter 194

Chapter 194: The Next Challenge

At home, Niels sat alone in his study.

The house was quiet now.

The noise of the party had faded hours ago, but sleep still hadn’t come.

A small desk lamp lit the room, casting soft light over scattered notes and open scouting reports.

Crawley had just made it to the Europa League Round of 16.

But Niels wasn’t celebrating right now.

He leaned back in his chair, staring at the papers in front of him.

Opponent breakdowns, tactical plans, travel schedules, it was all there, already waiting.

The win had been incredible.

The players had earned it.

But for Niels, the feeling didn’t last long.

Not because he didn’t care but because he knew what came next.

His phone buzzed. It was a message from Emma.

"The board wants to meet first thing tomorrow."

"10 a.m. I’ll be ready."

He set the phone down and glanced toward the shelf across the room.

The Europa League match ball sat there next to a few medals and framed photos.

A quiet reminder of how far they’d come.

But Niels wasn’t thinking about what they’d done.

He was already thinking about who they’d face next and how to beat them.

The players had their day off.

But Niels? His work was only beginning.

He took a long breath, rubbed his eyes, and looked back down at the reports.

The journey wasn’t over.

It was just getting started.

He stared at the notes a moment longer, but his focus was fading.

The words were starting to get blurry. His body, finally, was catching up to his mind.

With a quiet sigh, he pushed the papers aside and stood up.

The room felt colder now, quieter than before.

He turned off the desk lamp, walked slowly to his bedroom, and sat on the edge of the bed.

For a moment, he just sat there, staring at the floor.

Then he lay back, still dressed, and pulled the blanket over himself.

His eyes stayed open a little while longer.

Then finally, he closed his eyes and went to sleep.

For now, he needed rest.

A loud alarm rang through the room.

Niels opened his eyes and reached out to stop it.

He lay there for a moment, staring at the ceiling. His body felt heavy, but his mind was already turning.

He sat up slowly, still in the clothes from the night before.

His back was stiff. He stretched, stood up, and walked to the window.

The sky outside was pale and quiet. The streets were empty.

The town was starting to wake up.

He went to the kitchen and made a cup of coffee. The warm smell spread through the room.

Leaning against the counter, he took a slow sip.

The coffee was hot and strong exactly what he needed.

His phone buzzed on the table.

"Just confirming, 10 AM at the training ground for the meeting."

He looked out the window again. Yesterday was for celebrating.

Today, the work continued.

Niels put his phone down and stood up.

He walked to the bathroom and took a quick shower, letting the warm water wash away the last bits of sleep.

Feeling refreshed, he got dressed in his usual training gear.

Before long, he was out the door, heading to the training ground.

The quiet morning streets passed by as he thought about the meeting ahead.

Yesterday was for celebration.

Today was about moving forward.

The training ground was calm when Niels arrived.

A few staff members were already there, preparing for the day. The early morning light stretched across the empty pitches.

He nodded to the groundskeeper and made his way to the main building.

Inside, Emma was already there, sitting at a table and reviewing some notes.

"Morning," she said, looking up. "You’re early."

"Wanted to get a head start," Niels replied. He took a seat across from her.

They sat in comfortable silence for a few minutes, the calm before the day’s work.

The meeting with the board wasn’t until 10 AM, so there was time to prepare and gather their thoughts.

Niels looked out the window at the training field.

The players started arriving at the training ground, still moving a little slower than usual after their day off.

Max laughed as he stretched his legs, while Dev and Jamal joked quietly by the lockers.

Niels watched them from the sidelines, nodding with a small smile.

"Alright, lads," he called out. "Light session today. Let’s keep it easy."

The team moved onto the pitch, running drills and passing the ball back and forth.

The mood was relaxed but focused.

After about an hour, Emma signaled it was time for a break. The players headed inside for some breakfast toast, fruit, and strong coffee waiting for them.

Niels stayed behind on the pitch for a moment, taking in the scene.

The team looked ready, but the real challenge was just ahead.

Once the players were settled inside, Niels gathered his things.

"Emma, I’m heading to the meeting now," he said.

She nodded. "Good luck."

Niels took a deep breath and made his way to the conference room. The next step in their journey was about to begin.

Niels and Emma walked into the conference room.

The board members were already seated around the table.

The chairman smiled. "Congratulations on making the Round of 16. That’s a big deal."

Niels nodded. "Thank you. The team worked hard for it."

The chairman continued, "Now, things will get harder. More media, more pressure, tougher opponents. We need to be ready." Read complete versıon only at noⅴelfire.net

Emma added, "We’ve looked at the teams we might face and planned training to keep the players focused."

One board member asked, "How will you balance rest and training? The players need time to recover."

Niels replied, "We have rest days built in. Training will get tougher as the next match gets closer. The players understand."

Another board member said, "What support do you need from us?"

Niels thought for a moment. "We need your support, especially when things get busy. Also, we’ll need to manage media attention carefully to avoid distractions."

The meeting went on, talking about money, player health, and the club’s plans.

At the end, everyone agreed on the plan.

Niels felt the responsibility, but he was ready.

Now it was time to keep going.

After the meeting, Niels headed back to the training pitch.

The players were warming up, their energy returning after the morning’s rest.

Thomas, the club’s fitness coach, was already there, watching closely and giving instructions.

"Keep your pace steady," Thomas called out. "Focus on technique, not speed."

Niels nodded as he joined the group. "Good work today, everyone. Let’s keep building on this."

The players listened carefully, running drills and following Thomas’s guidance.

Niels moved among them, offering encouragement and advice.

The players ran through a few more drills.

Thomas watched carefully, reminding them to keep their form and pace.

Niels smiled as he saw their focus and energy.

Then he gathered everyone in a tight circle at the center of the pitch.

The laughter faded. Everyone grew quiet.

"Listen up, lads," Niels said, his voice calm but firm. "The last couple of days, everyone’s been talking about how far you’ve come. And you’ve earned that praise. But the job isn’t done yet. We celebrate, we take a moment, and then we get back to work."

He paused and looked around.

"Our next match is away. We’re playing against Peterborough United."

The players’ faces changed.

Everyone became focused and tense.

Peterborough was known for being tough and physical.

They didn’t care about our Europa League run.

They saw Crawley as a team to beat.

"That’s not all," Niels said, his voice serious. "Right after the Peterborough match, we have the FA Cup Round 1 draw.

Last season, we won that trophy. That’s a proud moment for this club and it’s a reminder of what we’re capable of.

When no one believed in us, we did the unbelievable. So now, we keep pushing. We prove them right and show them even more."

He looked each player in the eye. "We have momentum. We have confidence. Now we need focus.

Everything you showed to win that trophy the hard work, the grit, the fight I want to see it again, and even more. The world is watching. We have a new level to reach."

The players looked at each other, their faces serious.

Max said quietly, "We’ve earned this. We have to be ready."

Liam said, "No mistakes. We stay focused."

Jamal added, "We do this together."

Niels saw the fire in their faces and knew they were ready to take on the challenge.

Niels took a final breath and looked around at the team.

"Alright, lads. Let’s get back to work. This is just the beginning."

The players broke the circle and moved back to their positions.

The light chatter returned, but now it was quieter, sharper full of purpose.

Thomas called out instructions as the team began their drills again.

Niels watched them, feeling a mix of pride and determination.

The sun rose higher as the team worked through their drills.

Niels knew the next challenges would be hard, but he could see the players were ready.

Every pass and every run brought them closer to their goal.

He took a deep breath and smiled a little.

No matter what came next, they would face it together.
