Transmigrated as the Stepmother of a Rebellious Heir Chapter 265

If it were daytime, Shu Wan might still be able to climb up, but it was night, and it was raining heavily; Shu Wan felt there was no need to take the risk.

At this time, Fu Siyu also walked up to Shu Wan’s side. He glanced at the pouring rain, his eyes slightly deepening.

"Do you have your phone with you?"

"I do," Fu Siyu nodded.

"Then let’s rest here for the night and head out when the rain stops."

Shu Wan said as she walked into the cave.

After walking for a while, she noticed Fu Siyu had not followed her. She turned around to look at him, "Why aren’t you coming?"

Fu Siyu looked at Shu Wan somewhat amusedly, "I thought you would have someone come and take us back now."

"It’s not safe to go out in the rain, and besides, there’s nothing to worry about when I’m with you," Shu Wan replied naturally.

Hearing this, the corners of Fu Siyu’s lips lifted slightly, but a hint of helplessness flickered in his eyes, "I’m very happy that you trust me so much, but—"

His words were muffled by the increasing rain, and Shu Wan did not hear him clearly, "What did you say?"

"It’s nothing." Fu Siyu stepped forward. "Let’s go inside."

The rain outside did not seem to be stopping anytime soon. Shu Wan was about to prepare a place to rest when Fu Siyu took a handkerchief out of his pocket and laid it on a relatively flat stone, "You sit for a while, I’ll clean up."

"No need, I know how to do it too."

"I know." Fu Siyu smiled at Shu Wan, "I’m not letting you rest because I don’t think you can do it. Remember, I can’t sleep, I don’t know how to make medicine, so I can only express my gratitude through these little things. Surely you can’t deny me even this opportunity, right?"

Fu Siyu’s words seemed unproblematic, but Shu Wan felt something was off. However, she couldn’t pinpoint what it was, only feeling a bit strange inside.

If it were someone else, Shu Wan would definitely think this was a trap, and that the speaker had an ulterior motive.

But Fu Siyu was serious and resolute, and because of his reliable demeanor, Shu Wan had no doubts.

Shu Wan sat to one side, waiting for Fu Siyu to clean up.

Fu Siyu removed his suit jacket and handed it to Shu Wan, "It’s inconvenient to wear; keep it on for me."

Before Shu Wan could refuse, Fu Siyu draped the coat over her, enveloping her in a faint sandalwood scent that dispelled the chill brought by the rainy mist outside the cave.

The cave had a lot of dry grass. Fu Siyu found a relatively flat area, dusted off the grass, then spread it on the ground, and gathered some dry branches from inside the cave to make a fire.

As the flames rose, the temperature inside the cave slowly increased.

"Come sit over here; it’s warmer."

Once everything was arranged, Fu Siyu spoke.

Shu Wan laid the handkerchief on the dry grass and sat by the fire, with Fu Siyu’s jacket draped over her.

Watching the orange flames, many memories of her past life gradually surfaced in her mind.

On the road marching and fighting, many times they camped out in the open. Although conditions were tough, she had many comrades-at-arms with her.

During occasional breaks, everyone would gather around, roast a leg of lamb over the fire, chat and laugh heartily—it all seemed like a dream now.

Her close friends had vanished into the river of history, their vibrant lives buried under the dust of time, leaving only Shu Wan to remember those times, those people.

Shu Wan was not particularly sentimental, but sometimes, recalling those times only she remembered brought a certain melancholy to her heart.

Sensing Shu Wan’s mood, Fu Siyu did not speak further. He sat down beside her, quietly adding wood to the fire.

The fire crackled loudly, breaking Shu Wan’s train of thought.

In this small cave, with no concept of time, Shu Wan allowed her thoughts to drift, feeling somewhat lost between the past and the present.

Just then, a faint whiff of sandalwood lingered at her nose. Subconsciously, Shu Wan turned her head and saw Fu Siyu removing some stray leaves from her shoulder.

Shu Wan’s gaze flickered slightly. It seemed that every time she felt adrift between the past and the present, Fu Siyu was there beside her.

He did not speak or make any other gesture.

But whenever Shu Wan turned back, he was there beside her, breaking that rising feeling of loneliness.

The melancholy in her heart gradually dispersed, and Shu Wan’s eyes curved softly, "You seem to know how to do everything. Does running a business require learning wilderness survival too?"
