Bella Acker quietly made a victory gesture in her heart and continued to pretend to sleep.
Damian Sinclair saw her fluttering thick eyelashes and said coldly, "Bella Acker, if you’re going to pretend to sleep, at least do it properly."
Bella Acker squinted her eyes tightly, putting on a face that said she was deeply asleep and wouldn’t wake up no matter what.
Damian couldn’t help but reach out and pinch her cheeks, pulling them apart.
"Ow, ow, ow! You’re messing with my face, Damian, you’re so childish." Bella Acker finally couldn’t help but open her eyes, accusing him.
"Pretending to sleep is childish." Damian said, about to turn back to his desk.
Bella Acker immediately reached out and tugged at his shirt hem, "Damian, I... I was just speaking nonsense because I was in a bad mood earlier, please don’t be angry, okay?"
Damian looked back at her, "Bella Acker, do you really want me to find another woman? So you can leave me and do whatever you want?"
"No way." Bella Acker pouted pathetically, "It was you who saw me at the elevator door and pretended not to see."
Damian felt helpless; this little woman was always like this. She would make a mistake and still manage to play the victim.
"You were the one who said you wanted to rely on your own abilities to earn opportunities and didn’t want to use the back door." Damian said, "If I had taken you away at the elevator door, everyone would know, how could you continue with your acting then?"
"It’s not acting, it’s auditioning." Bella Acker pouted, "I’m seriously looking for a job to earn money."
"Why do you need to earn money? Isn’t the pocket money I give you enough?"
"It’s not the same." Bella Acker lowered her head, muttering softly, "The pocket money you give me is yours, it’s different from the money I earn."
Hearing these words made Damian feel slightly displeased, his eyes narrowing dangerously.
Before he could get upset, Bella Acker continued, "I also want to earn some money for myself, to buy you a gift."
Damian’s expression froze in surprise, looking down at the little woman with her head slightly lowered.
Her eyelashes were long, thick, and dense, and from above, against her fair and pinkish little face, she looked as pretty as a doll.
"You’re earning money just to buy me a gift?" Damian finally turned back, sitting next to her, and pulled her into his arms, sitting her on his lap.
"Your birthday is in over five months." Bella Acker wrapped her arms around his neck, "I’ve already decided what to buy, just short on money now."
The icy coldness on Damian’s face finally melted completely, "Then I’ll wait."
"Okay." Bella Acker nodded and smiled, "I actually failed the audition, but just now the executive producer of ’Brocade River and Mountain’ called me personally and asked me to audition for another, more important role. Damian, do you know what this feels like? I was disappointed, and then suddenly a great opportunity fell from the sky, right onto me. It’s simply amazing."
Watching her with eyes so big and smiling like crescent moons, Damian was both annoyed and amused; silly girl, how could opportunities really fall from the sky.
But he said nothing, instead scooping her up horizontally.
Caught up in her excitement, Bella Acker yelped and quickly clung to his neck, "Hey! Damian, you stood up without saying a word. You scared me."
"If I informed you before standing, would I still be able to catch you?" Damian cast her a glance and stepped out of the study.
Only then did Bella Acker realize the hard, hot object beneath her was pressing into her, causing her to freeze and dare not make another move.
