Wizard: Adventures in Two Worlds Chapter 237

"Shariel hopes you will intervene against Kolon's army."

"Shariel?" Adison narrowed his eyes. He had, of course, heard that name written in the sacred texts.

The mightiest angel under the Master of Dawn, the Guardian.

"According to the covenant between Wizards and the Divine, neither can interfere in the wars of mortals."

Carl was deep in thought. He knew about the situation on the front line. It was said that the allied forces of the kingdoms of Gando, Sark, and Zaxic had suffered a major defeat on the battlefield. Kolon's army continued to push forward.

It seemed the situation was worse than he understood, for even a Divine Domain Angel was descending to the mortal realm to seek assistance. It must be a situation of extreme urgency. Without strong reinforcements, some kingdoms might perish; otherwise, the angel would not have come knocking. But was the faith of ordinary people so important to the Divine?

"According to the ancient covenant, gods and Transcendents cannot intervene in the wars of mortals," Remiller said. "But you are still mortals, at least..."

'She' pointed a finger at Carl. "He is!"

"You mean..." Adison thought for a moment, then said slowly, "Official Wizards cannot act, but Wizard Apprentices can. That would not violate the original agreement."

In fact, Wizard Apprentices had already been appearing on the battlefield.

"Exactly!" Remiller raised her head proudly. "The Fire-Stealers of Kolon are Wizard Apprentices. They can act, so naturally, you can too."

"As citizens of the kingdom, it is also your duty to step in and help when your kingdom is in jeopardy."

"Heh..." Adison chuckled lightly. "Respected angel, Lady Remiller. We could have avoided this conflict. I believe the Kolong people wouldn't provoke Wizards without cause, so why get involved? Do not use so-called loyalty as an excuse; Wizards are only loyal to the truth."

"Truth?" Remiller's face filled with disdain. "Shariel says you only see benefits, a group of evildoers who don't understand loyalty and faith."

"As long as enough benefit is given, you will act."

"Those words..." Adison shook his head slightly but did not argue. "They are not without reason. But what is your offer, and what is the price?"

"Star Gate!" Remiller finally revealed the key to her visit. "Haven't you always wanted to build a Star Gate to go to the Wizard World? The Divine Domain can give you a Star Gate."

The words struck them like a thunderbolt. Not only did Adison's eyes light up, but even Carl, who had been listening quietly in the background, couldn't help but look up. Read complete version only at novęlfire.net

One of the objectives for the establishment of the Swamp Alliance was to build a Star Gate with the combined efforts of many Wizards. But the Star Gate belonged to the Third-tier. Even with a Second Circle Wizard like Adison leading and uniting many Wizards, whether it could be completed was unknown. And even if successful, it was not known how many years it would take. Now, there was a golden opportunity to obtain a Star Gate quickly. Which Wizard would not be moved?

"However, this Star Gate is only a one-way portal; you can leave through it but cannot return," Remiller continued. "As compensation, you need to help Gando repel the Kolong people's assault."

A one-way portal? Carl understood the Master of Dawn's thinking; after all, Wizards were also an unstable factor to the Divine. Actually, it did not matter. If given a choice, no Wizard or Wizard Apprentice would choose to stay here. The Divine's dazzling light overshadowed the Star Realm, almost cutting off Extraordinary Power. The scarce and impoverished resources had caused too many talented Wizard Apprentices to lose the chance to reach their full potential.

"Repel?" Adison shook his head slightly. "Remiller, you may not understand Kolon's strength, but the situation on the front lines is clear. Without the intervention of the Divine or Official Wizards, defeating Kolon completely is too difficult. Even if the Swamp Alliance is willing to act, it may not achieve this goal. After all, Kolon also has Wizards."

"What?" Remiller frowned, her voice laced with anger. "You're not willing to act?"

"No!" Adison sighed, seemingly frustrated with her directness, and had to say plainly, "If you could set a specific target, or some measurable goals, I could consider joining."

"Like what?" Remiller raised an eyebrow.

"For example, killing Kolon's vanguard general, or ambushing several Earls or Dukes," Adison said. "Before I act, I want to sign a contract in the name of the Ancient Gods and Wizards for our mutual protection."

"..." Remiller clearly lacked experience in bargaining and did not understand the concept of target value. After a moment of thought, 'she' tossed out a parchment scroll. "I cannot make this decision. But to facilitate further contact, you can write your thoughts on it. Shariel will be able to see them."

"Hmm..." Adison took the parchment scroll and nodded. "That works."

"Grey Robed Wizard." Remiller looked squarely at Adison, her eyes full of disdain. "Your heart is filled with evil, and your eyes see only profit. I disliked our conversation today."

"So..." She stretched out a finger, tapped lightly, and declared, "You will receive your punishment!"

A flash of white light streaked through the void, piercing Adison's heart. His body shivered, and his spirit instantly withered.

At the same time, 'Catherine's' body went limp, and she collapsed to the ground. Her glossy black hair turned snow white in an instant, and wrinkles appeared on her once smooth, tight skin.

Carl quickly stepped forward. After checking her, his brow furrowed involuntarily.

Life force! A great deal of Catherine's life force had been drained away. If she previously had fifty years of life left...
