Chapter 50: They All Say You’re a Scumbag

The next morning, Jiang Zhou finished washing up and got ready to head out.

He had a lot on his plate today.

First on the list: go to the cafeteria and flirt with that girl Feng Siruo.

Second: gather Han Rou, Huang Qi, and Su Nan for a meeting. He wanted to discuss forming a youth idol group — something sweet and lively, full of singing and dancing charm.

Then in the afternoon, he had rehearsals at the Dance Academy.

At night, he had a sit-down with the programmer to hash out the details of how the online food ordering system would work.

Even wage slaves didn’t have schedules this packed.

“Old Jiang, heading out this early again?” said Xu Haodong, lifting his head groggily from the bed.

His dark eye circles made him look like a panda.

“How many girls are you meeting today? Four or five?” he added.

“No dates today,” Jiang Zhou replied, glancing at his roommate. “What’s with you looking like that? Don’t tell me you chatted online all night.”

“Sure did! It’s the first time I’ve felt like I met someone who really gets me. We just kept talking and talking. My right hand doesn’t even appeal to me anymore.”

Jiang Zhou looked intrigued. “Oh? Tell me more.”

“She picks up on whatever I say. It’s amazing!” Xu Haodong said, sitting up straighter. “She’s really something special.”

“Sounds like a great girl. You better treat her right.”

“Of course! But she keeps bringing up the necklace thing. I don’t really get it.”

Jiang Zhou coughed lightly. “Oh, maybe her birthday’s coming up.”

Xu Haodong’s face fell. “So I have to buy a gift? How much?”

“Not much. She said a hundred bucks would be enough, just something small and thoughtful.”

“A hundred? That’s doable. I’ll go get one now!”

Jiang Zhou patted his shoulder and walked out of the dorm, feeling pretty pleased.

Since it was the weekend, there weren’t many students eating early at the cafeteria. But that didn’t mean they weren’t hungry, just that they prioritized sleep over food.

That’s why his food delivery startup had such great potential. Laziness was profitable.

Just then, a girl showed up at the cafeteria entrance.

She wore an icy-blue A-line waist-cinching dress, topped with a sleeveless pale moon-colored knit vest. Her slender, fair legs were perfectly straight, and her silky long hair flowed down to her waist.

Even with a mask on, her delicate aura couldn’t be hidden. Her eyes sparkled like autumn waters.

But she looked shy, her head down, cheeks tinged with pink.

Clearly, she wasn’t used to dressing .

“Jiang Zhou…” she said softly.

Jiang Zhou turned his head.

The girl was none other than Feng Siruo, dressed in the outfit he’d bought her.

It had taken some convincing (and a little coercion) to get her to wear it.

“As expected of my wife. Even a basic dress looks like a designer piece on you.”

Feng Siruo sat across from him, eyes uncertain. “You promised… just once.”

Jiang Zhou yawned. “Right, just once. But this time doesn’t count.”

“Too late, I reject your protest.”

Feng Siruo pouted quietly. “I’m never believing you again.”

Jiang Zhou picked up a french fry. “Here, open your mouth.”

“How about this. If you eat this fry, I won’t make you wear that dress again.”

Her eyes peeked up. “Really…?”

“I’m a man of my word. Everyone at Shangjing University knows that.”

“But you used to say you wouldn’t bully me.”

“When did I ever bully you? Don’t wrong a good man, classmate Feng.”

“You tease me every time we meet…”

Jiang Zhou waved the fry. “Or maybe you secretly want to wear it again, playing hard to get?”

“Then why refuse me?”

Feng Siruo hesitated. “Fine… I’ll eat it.”

“Good girl, open up.”

He popped the fry into her mouth, causing her face to turn crimson.

“You promised. After this, I don’t wear it again.”

Jiang Zhou nodded. “This one’s retired. But I bought you a new outfit, it’ll arrive tomorrow.”

Her eyes widened. She shook her head furiously. “No, no, no!”

“Fine, if you don’t want to wear it, come hang out with me tonight at 8 p.m. by the south grove.”

Jiang Zhou blinked. “You agreed?”

She nodded after a moment. Compared to wearing that eye-catching dress, spending time with Jiang Zhou was easier.

One person’s attention, she could handle. A crowd? Absolutely not.

Even wearing a mask, people had approached her for her QQ number on the way here. Getting to the cafeteria had been a wild ride.

Jiang Zhou noticed her daze. “What are you thinking so seriously about?”

Feng Siruo looked up a little. “Ding Yue said you’re a bad guy… that you have lots of girlfriends.”

“Defamation! Slander! I’m single right now. Those are just close female friends.”

Jiang Zhou frowned. “Ding Yue taught you that word, didn’t she? That girl’s the worst. One day I’m making up a scandal for her.”

Feng Siruo shook her head gently. “It’s not just her. Everyone in class says so… I learned it from them.”

“Don’t believe everything you hear. Learn to judge for yourself, got it?”

“Doesn’t matter to me anyway. I’m not watching you.”

Jiang Zhou looked at her with a mix of curiosity and surprise.

Why bring this up so suddenly? Is she jealous, or just making casual conversation?

Could it really be this easy to win her over in this life?

Suddenly feeling a shift in atmosphere, Feng Siruo looked up and caught Jiang Zhou watching her with a strange expression.

Panicking, she picked up her chopsticks and held them in front of her face to block his gaze.

“Remember, 8 p.m. by the south grove. If you don’t come, I’ll buy you clothes every day.”

Jiang Zhou stood up. “Come on, I’ll walk you back to the dorm.”

Feng Siruo quietly followed him out of the cafeteria.
