Today was the day I was becoming a noble in the Empire. … but honestly the entire ceremony was boring, so I’ll skip it.
You probably have an idea of how it went anyway. I walked in, there were other nobles from the Empire watching, the Emperor declared me a baron, I thanked him and walked out.
There, you didn’t miss anything.
But I did get a new title into my status as I did when the same happened in the Kingdoms, so I guess I’ll show you my status.
So as you may have noticed, I have the Baron of Crystal Empire title. And as you may also have noticed, I’m no longer an Honorary Baron of Ruiso Kingdom. I’m a permanent one.
I know Ruiso Kingdom has been wanting to make me a permanent noble pretty much since they made me a noble, and now they had the perfect chance for it. I basically had to agree because of politics.
And with the Factory VR stations, and everything else I’d done, there was basically no resistance against my increase in rank.
Also some other things worth of note. My level 40 Regeneration is pretty crazy. Regeneration recovers skill level% of your HP every minute. So for me, that is 40% of my HP every minute, 13,600 HP a minute, or 227 HP a second.
So if someone were to, say, cut my arm off, I could regenerate it in about 35 to 40 seconds. And with my Defense being over 20k, it isn’t easy. Even an adult dragon like Agunan can no longer just chomp my arm off. It takes quite a bit more than that. And that is with dragon fangs having a crazy high penetration stat when they are filled with mana.
Also worth note is the Fire Resistance skill. Got that thanks to Pele. It isn’t her fault that she burns anyone who gets close to her. I then leveled up the skill all the way up to 40, just because I could.
I’m not fire immune or anything, but I can swim in lava if I want and I’ll only take minor damage. Much less than what Regeneration heals.
And no, I didn’t tell Pele that hugging her still burns me. She would have cried if I told her that and I don’t need more obsidian shards. It is better for her to think she can’t actually hurt me like she can’t hurt Alice when she is in her fire immune outfit.
After my ranking up ceremony, Saffee and Hiro took me to a manor that I was being gifted by the Empire in the Empire’s capital. It was apparently my reward for dealing with the heatwave.
I was a little hesitant to receive it, but at the same time, maybe having it could be good. And I do have the funds to staff the place, and I can just teleport there so travel isn’t an issue either.
But when I saw the house I almost refused to take it. It was massive, way larger than anything a baron should own. Hiro explained that it belonged to an earl who was caught committing tax fraud and was thus stripped of his rank and possessions. The house had been empty for a few years now and they were basically pawning it to me as they knew I’d take good care of it. And they knew that I had the money to take care of it.
I wasn’t amused by the fact, but it is true so I took ownership of the house. At the demand that Hiro and or Saffee must help me find the staff for the building.
That got me a letter of recommendation to the employment agency, or as I explained a few chapters ago, basically the adventurers’ guild of the Empire. Since it works on all kinds of jobs, not just adventuring related jobs, getting housekeepers, maids, guards, cooks and all of that from there was perfectly possible.
And unlike most of the private businesses of the Empire, since the employment agency was state owned, it also accepted the Heroic currency as payment. Which actually isn’t a problem since I’ve already made modified Upstart Goblins that can produce the Empire’s currency.
And no, I’m not telling Hiro that. I think it is more fun if they assume I’m committing tax fraud. I want them to try and figure out where I get my money. Hiro eventually will, but it might take some time.
And I know what you are all going to say. Something like: “You’ll cause mass inflation by printing money!”
Which is technically possible, but at the same time, the amount of money I put out is at most 1 to 2% of the yearly new money the countries put out. And with the amount of money being lost due to people dying while carrying it, it does somewhat balance it out. And the currencies aren’t Fiat currencies, they are actual gold and silver and mine meet all the necessary weight and purity requirements.
Getting the personnel to take care of my new manor took a few days of interviews and so on. But eventually I had them and I was happy with how the building looked.
