Just as she reached the door, the two men in black once again blocked her way.
She turned her head and looked at the man who had just left the dining hall with a questioning glance.
The man cracked a smile, “Where are you headed? I’ll take you.”
“No need.” Leaving this place meant she didn’t want any further involvement with him. How could she possibly want his help?
He raised an eyebrow but didn’t say anything more. Instead, he turned and walked over to the couch and sat down leisurely.
Gu Qiangwei glanced at him, then back at the men in black blocking the door.
Did he mean that if she didn’t let him accompany her, she would never be able to leave?
With this thought, she sighed helplessly, suppressing her anger, “I need to go to work!”
He glanced sidelong at her, “And then?”
Gu Qiangwei looked up, shocked at his reaction.
Was he doing this on purpose?
Clenching her teeth, she said, “Please take me there!”
He curled his lips in satisfaction, “Fine.”
With that, he stepped towards the entrance.
However, her moving forward was useless; the men in black had no intention of letting her pass. Out of options, she had to let Qin Sijue move first.
But after waiting for several seconds, the man showed no sign of moving forward.
She looked up at him with surprise, not understanding what he meant.
His deep gaze landed on the suitcase in her hand.
“My car, it only takes people, not miscellaneous items.”
Gu Qiangwei knew all too well that he was doing this on purpose!
“Qin Sijue, I have to leave this place!”
“To end this agreement.”
“I don’t plan to repeat myself several times.” In other words, he wouldn’t end it—ever.
Looking up at the man before her, Gu Qiangwei suddenly felt a pang of heartache, “Qin Sijue, you already have a fiancée, and I need my own life. I don’t want to live in constant fear because of a relationship with you.”
Hearing the undertone in her words, he frowned, “Live in constant fear?”
“Yes! Even though I don’t know who you really are, I’m very clear that we’re not from the same world. I don’t want to be the third party everyone despises, nor do I want to live under the threat of your family!”
“Did my grandfather threaten you?”
After blurting out her reply, Gu Qiangwei calmed down for a few seconds, “Anyway, I don’t want to get involved between you and your fiancée.”
“Answer my previous question,” he said, his expression darkening.
She lowered her eyes and remained silent.
A hint of displeasure immediately flashed across Qin Sijue’s face, and the next second, he abruptly pulled her back into the living room.
“What are you doing!?” she jerked her arm away from his grasp.
Once he stopped, his narrow eyes fixed on her, “Twelve years ago, did your mother suddenly disappear?”
Gu Qiangwei’s expression stiffened, and she turned somewhat pale, “How do you know?”
“I’ll help you find your mother. The condition is, marry me.”
Gu Qiangwei stiffened in shock for a moment.
The condition was perhaps very tempting to her, but her mother had been missing for twelve years, and whether she was alive or dead, even she didn’t know.
And moreover, to marry him? He clearly already had a fiancée.
“You needn’t concern yourself with Nangong Feifei, or even the threats from my grandfather. Stay by my side, and I will protect you for life,” he said.
His words once again brought a hint of warmth to her chilled heart.
But why was he doing this? Why… was he being so good to her?
