Chapter 501: Forced to Squeeze In
Rong Yan unapologetically refused, blocking the door, “I’m sorry, but the water in the dispenser just ran out, and I haven’t called for a refill. If Mrs. Rong wants some water, there’s a café not far from here; just a few steps away.”
This damn mongrel! Jiang Meiqi almost erupted in anger, but she took a deep breath, feigning obliviousness to Rong Yan’s refusal, and headed straight inside, saying as she walked, “It doesn’t matter. If the dispenser is empty, there should be water in the kitchen. Boiling a pot for tea is also fine.”
She pushed her way inside, and Rong Yan couldn’t very well shove her out, so she had to step aside a little.
With just a small gap, Jiang Meiqi squeezed through it into the room.
Seeing her push her way in, Rong Yan frowned slightly and had to move aside.
With the person already inside, her standing at the door was pointless. Rong Weiwei took the opportunity to walk in, calling out to her, “Sister.”
Rong Yan didn’t even glance at her, reminding her coldly, “Shoe covers are by the entryway. Please change into them. I don’t want to clean up after you.”
In Dihor Garden, there are dedicated housekeepers, but most of the cleaning is done by Rong Yan. The main reason is that someone has a strong sense of cleanliness and territory; he really dislikes seeing strangers at home.
Even the housekeeping staff were seldom used.
As a freeloading momma, with three years still on the contract, even with a boyfriend-girlfriend relationship in place, she felt embarrassed to take advantage, so she took it upon herself to occasionally cook and clean the rooms.
With Rong Weiwei and her group tromping in with their shoes, the person who would end up with more work to do was her. More importantly, she didn’t want to add to her workload because of such people!
Rong Weiwei, reminded, felt a bit awkward but, with the concept of bowing one’s head under another’s roof in mind, found the shoe covers and put them on.
As she changed into the shoe covers, she also observed the decor at the entryway.
When she saw a pair of men’s slippers placed there, a glint flashed across her eyes. She quickly retracted her gaze, pretending not to have noticed, and nonchalantly finished putting on the shoe covers.
Rong Yan took two bottles of mineral water from the fridge and placed them on the coffee table in the living room. To the two people sitting on the sofa, she said, “The gas has been shut off at home, so I can’t boil any water. There’s only mineral water; you’ll just have to make do.”
Of course, they could also choose not to drink. Not drinking would be even better; she could then show them out directly.
Unexpectedly, Jiang Meiqi held back, took a bottle of mineral water from the coffee table, unscrewed the lid, and asked Rong Yan, “The gas is out here, but does that mean there are no cups either?”
Rong Yan really wanted to say that indeed, there weren’t any.
But seeing the look of slight exhaustion on the lady’s face, she pressed her lips together and went back to the kitchen to retrieve a glass for guests.
Jiang Meiqi poured some of the mineral water into the cup. Picking up the glass, she recognized at a glance that the seemingly unremarkable glass was actually quite expensive, likely from the high-end series by the KITNA brand. Such a small glass must cost at least thirty to forty thousand. Weiwei had been tormented to the point of not eating well, and yet this little bastard seemed to know how to enjoy life! Suppressing the rage in her heart, she took a sip and set the glass down.
“I’ve heard from Weiwei about the thing between you and Mr. Li. Shouldn’t you have informed me about such a significant matter? Why did you never mention it to me?”
If it weren’t for the fact that she was seated right here, and moreover had barged in, Rong Yan would have doubted her own ears, “Does Mrs. Rong care about my affairs?”
