Chapter 7: Chapter 7 I hope we can get along well in the future
Xiao Lan didn’t notice the sudden change in Su Nian’s expression and continued gleefully, “I don’t know how much Sheng Han paid the boss. There wasn’t even a whisper, and he just sold it.”
Seeing that Su Nian seemed somewhat distracted, Xiao Lan reassured her, “Oh Susu, don’t worry, you won’t lose your job. The boss has said no one will be laid off, and the salaries will follow the standards of Sheng Han Group’s headquarters. We’re getting a raise!”
She then leaned close to Su Nian and whispered mysteriously, “And there’s more… President Chen said there will be reassignments. If we could work at Sheng Han, seeing that super handsome Big Boss everyday, I would be willing even without a salary!”
Upon hearing this news, Su Nian felt even more uneasy. She thought that the signature he smoothly gave on the contract yesterday meant letting go, but it seems Shen Hanxiu was indeed well-prepared.
Suddenly, a burst of messy exclamations came from not far away. As Su Nian turned her head to look, Xiao Lan, excited, firmly grabbed her arm: “Susu, look! It’s Shen Hanxiu!”
While they were blooming with joy, Su Nian felt uneasy.
While she was distracted, Shen Hanxiu’s gaze landed precisely on her. Consequently, other colleagues also followed his gaze towards her.
“Susu, I feel like President Shen is looking at you.”
By then, Shen Hanxiu had disappeared round the corner. Su Nian withdrew her gaze and replied to Xiao Lan, “I think he’s looking at you.”
“Really? Really?” Xiao Lan blushed, hopping around excitedly.
Su Nian returned to the office, her mind unsettled. Everywhere outside, people were discussing Sheng Han Group’s acquisition and the dashing President Shen Han.
Su Nian’s mind went blank, yet it was filled with chaos.
As if in a daze, the morning passed, and an emergency meeting was convened during the afternoon break.
Most of the company’s main staff were here. Their previous boss, Boss Zhang, was merely sitting by the side while the chairman’s seat was occupied by that man who, even without speaking, emitted a strong presence.
Su Nian only glanced at him when entering the meeting room, and then consistently avoided his gaze.
President Chen poked her next to him: “Nian’nian, be honest, what did you discuss with President Shen that day? This has escalated so quickly.”
Su Nian replied, “I’m just in finance. How could I cause such a big stir?”
“Why do I always feel that President Shen is here for you?”
“I don’t feel that way.”
“Alright, alright, could everyone quiet down?” Boss Zhang stood on stage, his voice coming through the microphone.
Boss Zhang was a kind person. Previous meetings weren’t very serious, with chatter from start to finish. Perhaps due to that man’s presence, everyone instantly fell silent today.
“I am now announcing something very important. Our company has the honor of being acquired by Sheng Han Group. Rest assured, there will be no layoffs, but there will be some personnel reassignments. Everyone just needs to follow the arrangements. After the reassignments, Sheng Han will provide all services, including room and board. You only need to focus on your work. After the meeting, I will announce the list of reassignments. Now, please let President Shen, your future boss, say a few words.”
The applause was enthusiastic, numbing Su Nian’s head.
Shen Hanxiu walked elegantly onto the stage, his gaze sweeping across the meeting room and then unabashedly resting on Su Nian. His calm and deep voice came from the microphone: “I hope we can get along well in the future.”
His brief words left people wanting more. President Chen was also captivated, “Wow, the aloof heartthrob! Just my type. But I have someone, Nian’nian, I’m generous enough to let you have him.”
Su Nian smiled silently, her thoughts adrift.
After Boss Zhang delivered a lengthy and rather unnecessary speech, the meeting concluded.
Soon enough, the HR department posted the list of reassignments. Everyone hurried to see, Su Nian included.
While others hoped to be honored with a position at Sheng Han Group’s headquarters, Su Nian hoped her name wouldn’t appear on the list.
But contrary to her wishes, the first name on the list was “Su Nian.”
