Aiden Taylor’s face turned extremely unpleasant at this moment. Harriet White could tell that he was now extremely furious. If they weren’t at the cemetery, he would have already blown up at Evelyn Taylor.
"Ryan! You go in with your dad first, Evelyn and I will follow shortly." Worried that the father and daughter would have another dispute, leading to an unpleasant scene, Harriet signaled to Ryan Taylor to lead Aiden Taylor inside.
Ryan understood Harriet’s intention immediately and quickly walked to Aiden’s side, "Dad! Let’s go in."
After saying that, he placed one hand on his father’s back and then gently pushed him towards the cemetery.
Aiden glared at Evelyn and walked into the cemetery with Ryan, not caring if the mother and daughter would follow.
Watching the two walk away, Harriet finally looked away and turned to face Evelyn, whom she was holding onto. It was only then that she noticed her daughter glaring fiercely at Aiden walking into the cemetery.
"Evelyn! After all, Lily is your dad’s biological daughter. Calling her ’wild girl’ constantly is really too much." Hearing her daughter call that girl ’wild girl’ made her feel uncomfortable, let alone her husband.
If her brother-in-law were alive to hear his niece calling his daughter a ’wild girl’, he would certainly be angrier.
"Mom! Whose side are you on? Why are you always siding with an outsider?" The outsider in Evelyn’s words was none other than Lily Turner, whom she always called ’wild girl’. To her, Lily was an outsider, unrelated to her.
Hearing this, Harriet’s expression changed, "Lily is not an outsider. She is your dad’s niece, your cousin."
She made each point heavily, only to make her daughter take it seriously. She wasn’t joking; she was stating a serious fact.
"Didn’t Grandpa and Grandma drive them away back then? Why did you bring them back? Aren’t you going against Grandpa and Grandma?" Evelyn brought up her long-deceased grandparents to refute Harriet’s words.
Upon hearing this, Harriet widened her eyes in surprise, "Who told you this?"
Twenty-three years ago, her daughter was only three, far too young to understand anything.
She had never mentioned such things to her daughter. The events of that year were only known to the Linton Family; no outsiders knew.
"I overheard you and Dad talking in the room that day. I didn’t mean to eavesdrop on you. You two shouldn’t have left the door open while talking." Evelyn placed the blame for her eavesdropping on Aiden and Harriet, complaining that they didn’t close the door properly. She absolved herself of any responsibility.
Harriet furrowed her brows, thinking for a moment. Indeed, she and Aiden had not closed the door when discussing the matter that day.
But why did this girl go to their room? When did she go there? How did she develop the habit of eavesdropping?
"Since you’ve heard it, I won’t hide it from you anymore. Your grandparents did drive Lily’s mother and her out back then, but they regretted it not long after." Harriet revealed the true facts from back then to Evelyn, hoping she’d understand the truth and not call Lily ’wild girl’ anymore, as it was really inappropriate.
