Ji Niandong hadn’t recovered her senses when the man’s hand suddenly grasped her left wrist again, the heat on her face instantly dissipating, replaced with a look of fear.
She wanted to pull her hand back, but her wrist was held tightly.
"Don’t be nervous!" The man quickly saw through her thoughts again, holding her with one hand but now more gently and carefully. He turned his head to open the medicine kit with his other hand. "You’re scared of me, so you don’t want to marry me."
He stated her innermost thoughts with certainty. Could it be that this man always knew what she was thinking deep inside?
"In the days to come, I will make you know that, for you, I should not be someone to fear!" He began applying medicine to her hand with a cotton swab, and only then did Ji Niandong let out a hiss.
"Finally acknowledging the pain?" he asked, looking up, then bowed his head with the same careful attention as when she woke up at his house that day. His voice was gentle and mellow, "It’s said that a woman’s hands are her second face. How can you not take care? Doesn’t it hurt?"
As he spoke, he deliberately pinched her hand, causing Ji Niandong to frown in pain. He finally released that hand and proceeded to medicate the other.
Recently overwhelmed, how could she have had the leisure to care for her hands?
Ji Niandong pursed her lips like a child admitting to a mistake, "I’ll be careful next time!"
"Next time?" He glanced at her, leaning forward so their faces were very close, and Ji Niandong lowered her eyes, unsure where to focus her gaze: "No, there won’t be a next time!"
"Good girl~" His voice was amorous and drawn out, causing Ji Niandong’s face to flush again.
The little woman before him, blushing and at a loss, brought a smile to Lu Beichen’s lips as he gently placed her medicated hand in his, unexpectedly planting a kiss on her forehead: "If there’s a next time, I’ll punish you !"
Ji Niandong shivered all over, even pulling her foot with the ice pack out of his arms, nearly dropping the towel on the ground.
Before Lu Beichen could speak, Ji Niandong reacted quickly, reaching out to take the towel from his hand, "Or, I, I can do it myself!"
"Sit still! Don’t touch the medicine on your hands!" As soon as he spoke, Ji Niandong shifted herself cautiously, afraid of touching her hands and feet.
Her actions were too amusing to ignore, and Lu Beichen suppressed his laughter, carrying her in his arms and heading to the bedroom.
Ji Niandong suddenly tensed up again, babbling nervously, "Um... um, Mr. Lu, although I’ve agreed to marry you, but..."
Lu Beichen stopped, looking at the bewildered little woman in his arms, and asked lowly, "What did you call me?"
Ji Niandong lowered her head, frowning, opening her mouth but taking a moment before calling out, "Hus...band, no, no, Little Uncle?"
She truly couldn’t bring herself to say "husband," and was afraid he’d be angry if she directly used his name. Calling him "uncle" seemed too old, so she ended up calling him Little Uncle!
Lu Beichen gazed at her intently, as if he could still hear her lively voice echoing, calling him "Little Uncle" repeatedly!
Just when Ji Niandong thought he might get angry, the man curved his lips and let out a soft laugh: "Little Uncle? I’m eleven years older than you; that’s not a bad title!"
As soon as Ji Niandong breathed a sigh of relief, the man carried her in a few steps into the bedroom, gently placing her on the bed.
