Mia Ginger let out an "oh" sound.
Koa Jackson frowned and gave her a glance, the gloom inside him deepening, "What’s that? Did it sink in?"
"Limits," Koa paused, "Have limits and on the first day, you exchange phone numbers with a boy? Do you know what kind of person he is?"
Even riding his bike!
Suddenly remembering that, Koa felt even more displeased.
"It’s not what you think." Mia glanced at him peculiarly, "The counselor inexplicably had me temporarily act as class president, managing the girls during military training. He’s the other one, managing the boys’ affairs. Exchanging numbers was just to conveniently contact each other if necessary."
"..." Koa was slightly taken aback, "Like that?"
Otherwise, he thought she was the type of girl who lacked self-respect?
"I noticed that guy seems quite smooth with words," Koa glanced at her fair profile, "I’m worried you’ll get deceived."
"Am I that easy to deceive?"
"Hard to say." Koa couldn’t help but laugh.
Mia glanced at him and suddenly didn’t want to say anything anymore.
She sort of understood; Koa just saw her as a child.
And because of their engagement, he cared for her like he was looking after a little sister.
She didn’t want that.
She wanted what Windsor Myres had, to have him, to win him over as a woman does a man, to have him.
Thinking about Windsor Myres, a sudden surge of boldness welled up inside her.
Coming back to her senses, she couldn’t help but scorn herself.
It must’ve been the impact Windsor Myres had on her that afternoon, brainwashing her, making her feel that her intense emotions were truly magnificent and captivating.
When Koa opened the car door and didn’t see her getting out, he leaned over and helped her with the seatbelt.
"Oh." Mia responded with a blushing face, following him as they exited.
Koa didn’t actually drive far, stopping the car at the first intersection near the school to eat at a roadside restaurant.
At seven-thirty, it was the peak dining time.
The entire floor of the restaurant was full, so Koa got a private room.
Both of them took a menu and looked down. Eventually, Mia pointed to a brightly colored picture and looked up, asking, "Can I get the papaya stew with pear?"
"..." Koa looked at her, then lowered his head, "Sure."
"I’ll also have a papaya stew with pear, thank you." Mia repeated to the waiter.
The waiter left with the menu, and suddenly the room was filled with an awkward atmosphere.
Mia did it on purpose.
She had randomly searched online a few days ago, and the word "papaya" got stuck in her mind.
Koa is a doctor; surely he knows... what it’s for, right?
She just wanted to see his reaction, to see if he’d realize that she is indeed a woman.
He just gave a flat "sure"?
Soon, the waiter knocked on the door again and politely served the meal.
They didn’t order much.
Mia wrapped up two small pancakes and drank a couple of sips of the well-cooked eight-treasure porridge. Just as she felt full, the papaya stew with pear was served last.
"Cough cough." A mouthful of porridge almost got stuck in her throat.
"Eat slowly." Koa had already put down his chopsticks and reminded her helplessly.
Mia responded with an "oh," grabbing a napkin to wipe her mouth.
And started eating the papaya.
Thinking she was indeed a bit silly.
